Question on Shipping CO2 Cartridges

I'm sending a CO2 pistol as a present to a friend.  I'm also supplying them with some pellets and want to provide a box of CO2 cartridges to get them started.

Has anyone had experience with shipping the 12 gram CO2 cartridges?  If so, what carrier, declarations, shipping method and procedures do you use?

I’ve had 40 count boxes bought from Amazon shipped to me with no special shipping, so I say box it up and ship that sucker!
