Duane :
The top rifle in the 1st picture below is a 117cal Crosman Vantage Np1 that is mounted in to a Titan Stock. ( it has the same Np1 Gas Ram as the Titan but comes ( from the factory) with open sights mounted on the barrel and does not have the Titan muzzle break or Titan thumb-hole stock. ) The bottom rifle in the picture is a 22cal Benjamin Trail NP XL 1100. The rifle in the middle of the picture below is a 22cal Crosman Summit Ranger Np 2. The Np2 Gas Ram has more power than the Standard NP1 Gas Ram. ( An Np1 Gas Ram is in a Titan or Crosman Vantage ) The Benjamin NP XL Gas Ram has the most power of all all three of rifles pictured below and is the hardest to be accurate with. It is also the hardest to cock ( about 50 lbs. of cocking force ). The Benjamin Trail NP XL 1100 weighs around 11 lbs. with a scope mounted on it. The Vantage/Titan weighs around 8 1/2 Lbs. with a scope mounted on it and has about a 35 Lb cocking force. The Benjamin Trail NP XL 1100 is considered an Ultra Magnum rifle where the others are not. The Benjamin Trail NP XL series rifles come with a Barrel Shroud and Picatinny scope rail.
Best Wishes - Tom

Since both are Chinese B19 guns the differences are cosmetic. They may have different stocks or different means of mounting the scope but parts interchange such that one may be converted easily to the other.

The main difference between the XL and the Titan- the XL has about 30% more weight and 50% more power.
Another huge difference in the XL has a threaded end cap, that shreds the heck out of the piston seal. So you typically will see a much greater improvement from a debur and lube in comparison to many other rifles. Typically about a 24 fpe rifle, a proper debur and reseal can boost it 4-6 fpe if done right.

I’m also reading that the Trail XL is pretty hard to tame compared to some of the others.

There is no taming it. But it'll make you a better springer shooter, for sure.

Are the Titan thumbhole stocks interchangeable with the Crosman Vantage guts? I really want a thumbhole stock!

Titan and Vantage stocks should be interchangeable. Not interchangeable with the XL however. XL is a much larger gun.

Post a WTB (want to buy) ad in the classifieds. You should not have to wait long, and will probably get a very good price on one.

Oops - my bad. I didn't read the title carefully enough. The XL series is based on the Chinese B20. The compression tube is larger in diameter and the power is noticeably greater. Due to the increased power it is harder to shoot accurately. Both can benefit greatly from a GRT III trigger from charliedatuna.com.

The PDF for the Titan is on the Crosman web site. Look up C8M22NP under Crosman rifles. the part number is C8M22NP-01-00, Hardwood stock assembly. Call 1-800-724-7486 and wait for the prompt to select parts ordering. Good Luck.

The Trail series also has that stamped-in checkering that definitely adds to look & function. And learning to hold the Trail's steady, but not firmly is the key to accuracy I've found. I have the Trail NPXL725, .25cal magnum with fully shrouded barrel and welded picatinny rail scope mount. Stops that walkin' backwards bit.
It also is rated @ 900FPS/30FPE. With H&N FTT's, the orginal 19.91gr pellets, shot a best of 858/32.55!
