Never really liked the Guantlet myself but I know there are lots of people who are happy with their Guantlets out of the box. I never bought one but I handled and shot three different ones that my friends bought and was totally underwhelmed. On one it had a wandering poi and I found the barrel was loose in the breech. They were loud. The triggers sucked on all three and they were all hard to cock. My buddy brought one to me last week and asked if I would install a JSAR kit in it for him. Very easy to do and totally changed the rifle into something useful. The gun nows cocks easy, its quieter and more powerful, trigger is ten times better , power is adjustable now, and it should get more shots as it doesn't seem to be burping as much anymore. Overall it made it into a very nice rifle, even if it is still big. One thing it always had going for it is that it got lots of shots and it was accurate out of the box. Now its just better all around.
Kinda changed my mind about it now. Who knows, some day I might own one!

I think it would be fun to convert the gauntlet to .30 caliper. up the output pressure and modify the valve. Wonder where one could get a barrel?

i heard good results from TJ barrels, some Lothar barrel liners are offered from Jeffersonstatesairgun too. .30 cal would be perfect...lots of work though.

The Walthers aren't liners. The TJ's are liners, I have two at the moment. Both in .257, and give excellent accuracy!
the .257 Talondor can print under an inch all day long at 100 yards. Most groups under 1/2."

OK...let this post mark me as a "trouble maker".
Do not have a Gauntlet...don't value the magazine repeater feature enough to swich from what I do have.
I'll give an nod to the laws of diminishing returns, in that the faster you go, the more air it has to use.
But almost (only a very few posts from folks who have done the work) evey post has shot count numbers that are pretty "gas hoggish".
From experinece, there are (and likely BETTER than this),with a 13CI bottle there are:
(in thiscase, "good" would be within 3%)
100-110 good shots at 20 foot pounds.
200 shots at 12 foot pounds
260 shots at 9 foot pounds
If you have to have 30 foot pounds (lets assume in .22), then I'd want at least 55-60 shots inside of 3%.
Not just dreams...can do that with HPA converted QB's...so why not a Gauntlet?
A few folks have posted numbers along that range (which isn't some kind of super efficiency...it'smore like 1.2 - 1.3 fpe/cuin).
YEp..brand me as a "trouble maker", but I just got to call attention to what COULD be (as I do not thing the Gauntlet can't do it...just that it's not often being done).

I agreed with you Knifemaker.
Pault58, the mod that requires you to port and bore the valve and transferport until you can't anymore!
Ribbonstone, it's been done man. I can hit 38FPE with a shortened gauntlet tube at 1300 psi and can get minimum 30 shots based on 80 shots on a 23CI bottle. I just confirmed it the other day go to this thread
