I guess I’m kinda late getting to this thread and didn’t have much to add other than about 10 years ago i researched flying rings a bit after talking to Bigbore Bob Dean about his idea of shooting 20mm rings . So i turned out a .568 hollow brass bullet about an 1” Long with the short taper in the front and long taper in the back to shoot out of my .58 sidelever . I made a Teflon driving plug to put behind it . Unfortunately i didn’t chrono it but since the gun shoots round balls into the low 900’s it probably was close to supersonic. I took aim at a 2 liter bottle full of water 50 yards away an punched a hole clear through it and it made a screaming sound as it went across the field behind it . Interesting test but too labor intensive to make the dang things .
