The Occam's Razor of Airgun Accuracy Issues

For anyone not familiar with Occam's Razor, it is a very old principle which says (in basic terms), the simplest answer is usually correct.
(This principle goes back to the 14th century, when it was studied by a Franciscan Friar, William of Ockham, though it was already known and practiced as a matter of logic )
Anyway........
I was at the bench this evening, shooting the .177 R1 and my shots were really scattering!
I was getting a little frustrated, because this gun is usually so accurate, and consistently so!
I tried changeing pellets for awhile, tried messing with the scope, doing some adjustments, checked to make sure the scope and/or mount wasn't loose.
Hmmmmmm. A mystery it was......and I was just about ready to pack that gun in a case and lock it in a closet for an extended exile.
Then I remembered one of the airgunner's favorite theme songs......
Written for spring gunners everywhere....."You've Got to Check Your Screws"
And I DID
And it WORKED
Gertrude is shooting dime size groups once more!

The second step may be a good barrel cleaning as well as a tightening of the screws.

Quiet guns, loud guns, motorcycles and a good golf swing just to keep it going.
I am, therefore I plink.
