A light weight hammer will fix the hard cocking and help with double loading, but also should lower the ES as well. At least with mine it did.
Depends on your idea of what "power" means...If your tuning for mid 800's with a 15.x gr pellet to get accuracy and a nice bell curve and shot count with a low ES then you'll want to control that hammer with consistent spring, hammer bounce and drag. Way easier to do with the lighter weight composite hammer. It's not about slamming a poppet open, it's more about finessing it open with a controlled, consistent strike. If all you're interested in is raw power then by all means... hit it with a sledge hammer. Open that port and crank the spring in... let 'er rip tater chip. Better get a bigger target.
