Hatsan just arrived

OK  first report on test firing the Torpedo 100X.
As I said before I mounted an old Tasco scope that I had for years, on the rifle.
The first 4 shots at 15 yards were 4 inches low and to the right by 6 inches. About a 4 inch group.
Well I started adjusting the windage and elevation. The next 4 shots were still 4 inches low and about 4 inches to the right.
The problem here is that I turned the windage almost 1 complete turn and the elevation about 1/4 of a turn!!!
Something is not working with this scope, I will change it out for my new Hatsan scope today.
Now I want you guys to tell me the truth, do you use a cheater pipe on your underlever air rifle??
Look at the following pics, forget about the back ground in the pics. This is my work shop.
Here is the Hatsan lever arm before cocking and here is a cheater bar that I am using.
It is 14 inches long and hollow, I slid a piece of rubber inner tube inside of it to protect the lever finish.
I push it over the lever about 4 inches. This makes it really simple to cock the rifle.
Ok I guess I'm a wimp now, but it sure makes it easy to keep cocking and shooting.

OH! One more thing, I need to answer REACTOR NIN's question.
There is nothing wrong with the front sight physically. I just don't like the little orange fiber optic showing up in my scope. And I like the smooth look of a flat front sight area when you don't use the front sight.
Like I said before when I find a parts supplier I will purchase a new front sight for a replacement if I decide to go with open sights later on.

The front sight is fine, I just wonder why there is rust in the threads of this plastic sight. The rust must have come off of the set screw that was screwed into the sight. I will check it out then. I want to remove the fiber optic part of the front sight anyway. But I would like to have another original front sight to replace the altered one if I decide to change it back.
I still need to find a place to purchase parts for this Hatsan.

I have only fired this rifle one time, I will be sighting in the scope and checking group size today.

One quick question, the manufacturer says to clean the rifle bore after 500 shots. That bothers me, I would think you should clean it after 10 to 20 shots???
Anyone think different?

Airguns don't require much cleaning. Every 500 shots is likely to often. Clean it well when you get a new airgun, the barrel will be filthy when new. Clean again when you notice the accuracy with a known accurate pellet get worse. After cleaning accuracy may not return until the barrel is seasoned by shooting a bit.

TEST NUMBER 2,
I left the Tasco scope on the rifle just to see if it really did need more adjustment. I adjusted the elevation and windage and fired another pellet. This was much better 1 3/4 inches right of the bulls eye and elevation wise it was dead center bulls eye.
I made no adjustments and the next 3 shots were 1 1/2 inches right of the bull but 4 inches below.   
These 3 shots were in a 1 1/4 inch group.
Maybe after I adjust the scope it takes a shot or two for the scope to settle in to the adjustment. I'm going to let it sit for a while and then I will shoot again.
By the way I checked the barrel for dirt and it was clean.

Ok let's sum up this rifle.
It looks super, very nice wood stock, rifle sling brackets installed and rifle sling included.
Adjustable fiber optic rear sight and fixed fiber optic front sight.
The rifle is heavy, around 12 lbs.
Noise level is about the same as firing a long rifle 22 rim fire rifle.
Trigger is adjustable and feels good.
The under lever is about 12 inches long and it take some oomf to cock her.
I love the bolt/barrel loading system with plenty of room to load pellets even with huge fingers.
I only fired less then 20 shots so far but it looks like this rifle will be a fly killer at 20 yards with no problem.
I would buy another one in a second.

JK, glad you’re liking you’re rifle. I’ve been looking hard at the Hatsans since my purchase of the .30 cal which I’m well pleased with.

 After a few hundred shots the gun should smooth out nicely and quiet down alot also. Glad you are enjoying your new under lever.

Wade, well done. Try to zero your rifle after the break in period of your new rifle. SHOOT , SHOOT AND SHOOT! Observe your own holding of your rifle comfortably to get the best groupings. Try different pellets too. The heavier ones seen better for mine. Try zeroing with the open sight first to check that your bore, barrel, open sight ....are in align position. Try  zeroing her at 10 metres and following up at 25 metres. IMO.. Shoot  safely with your best position.

I keep a rubber handle screwdriver on the shooting bench when adjusting a scope. After adjusting and before the next shot, tap the barrel of the scope in a few places. This allows the wire reticles to "settle" into the new position. Otherwise, it takes the recoil shock to do the same thing and you waste a shot getting the reticles settled in.

I like the Torpedo 100X. When Field Supply had them for $120 delivered (new not refurbed, steel spring version) I stocked up!

Use two hands cocking. I had a 100x springer. I sold it when I got a 155. Same gun only bigger. I grab the cocking lever with one hand and start down then reach around the gun and grab it with other hand and change hands now and then to keep from wearing out my shoulder joints.

Make sure the bolt is all the way down and locked when you shoot or it will sound like a 30-06 when it pops open.

One of my Hatsan bolt actions, I had two 155's, .22 and  .177, the brass loading bolt handle would loosen and the little brass cap on the cocking lever release would also loosen so I Blue lock-tite them.

I don't like the looks (or need it) front sight assembly either on the 100x, 155 or Dominator. I have a Dominator carbine and like the way that looks. I wish the front end of my Proxima was like the Dominator carbine. It might one day when it also becomes a springer.

If you look in the China gate some guys have removed the front sight on their XS 46U's (looks about the same) and used a B3 barrel clip instead. Looks okay. I've seen a B3 where a small magnet inside shrink wrap on the cocking lever was used with a small hole in the shrink wrap where it touches the barrel

 During prolonged break-in shooting events with my hatsan 125 spring piston I had to switch hands occasionally, was hard to stop shooting, the darn thing , and my muscles remembered it the next day.
