I always see all these condors modded out and fitted with .257 barrels. Those guns were built for 100 fpe....maybe ......

Soooo; what if I had TJ make me a .257 barrel for the bulldog (somehow) and let a rifle naturally endowed with 200 fpe muscle push these babies down a barrel with similar twist as the stock bulldog? (1 tw/14")
I figured why not go on and do about 32 to 36 inches for the barrel. unless 30 will suffice.

I could possibly even get the magazine made for it, seeing how it's fairly generous in length. It should have room for the slugs.

First of all, the potential FPE depends on three things, the bore area times the pressure (equals the force available to accelerate the bullet), and the barrel length (the distance that force acts through).... If you kept the same pressure and barrel length, going down from a .357 to a .257 will drop the FPE from 200 down to (.257/.357)^2 x 200 = 0.518 x 200 = 104 FPE.... You might do a little better than that, because the Bulldog porting and valve may be restricting the power in .357 cal, whereas in .257 cal it may be able to breath better, relative to the caliber....

but don't expect to get 200 FPE with a similar barrel length in .257 cal....

The BD design makes for some challenges to go to a smaller caliber.  The flow thru bolt that attaches to the sidelever, can't be machined down that far (.257).  A whole new piece needs to be made.  The barrel is no easy replacement, with a large OD at the receiver, then tapered to a smaller diameter.  I have seen a number of people mention the idea of converting it down to smaller calibers, but no reports of any successful conversions.

I've been tempted to get a 5/8" OD 28" or a bit longer .357 1 in 20 or so twist barrel and then turn down the breech end for 3" to 9/16" or thereabouts and sleeve it back up to 11/16".  Sleeving 5/8' to 11/16" seems to me not to be practical. That would be great as it should then be able to use shorter bullets accurately.  Regards, Tom
