Best $310 to $570 I've spent....for two airguns that have taken up almost all of my shooting for the last months (although the Beeman Chief got a prertty good part of that too).
MrodAir CO2 Plinkater and ModAir "VArminet". Really don't care too much who you buy from, although a US based importer does keep some of the $ in-saystem.
RIFLES ONLY: cost: $200(PCP with 2 extra mags)+ 109(co2 with one mag)...so four mags if both are in the same caliber. + $309.
Add ; $65 each for Rocker 1 LDC's...so total now $ 439.
In case you wonder, the CO2 has a no-name brand Chinese scope and mounts ($48.50) and the PCP has a "Hammers" scope and a set of Leapers mounts ($60) and i have no intentions of changing them as they get the job done just fine.
Scopes and mounts aren't expensive on the above two...like $50-$65 per...so call it another $120 for a total of $559-560.
In this case, both in .177, but if you wanted to go all .22 or to mix-n-match, would be OK by me (although you couldnt share mags between caliber if the same).
You're going to want 4-6 mags.
In .177, for the co2, call it 3 mags (27 sahots) at about 9.4-10 foot pounds or 4 mags (36 shots at about7.9- 8.2 foot pounds per shot).
For the .177 PCP call it between 20 shots at 20 foot pounds and 15 shots at 24 foot pounds...so two mags will "do ya" if you keep the the best velocity spread.
So one for a few shots at long range (the PCP)...one for a lot of shots at short range (the co2)...one for little critrers/one for bigger critters.
Best pellet for EITHER of them, so far as I've tested (and more than a dozen .177's tested) has been the 10.3gr. JSB or the AA version of JSB's (neithewr can tewlkl the difference).
Sofar as I can tell (whith a &^^& load of shooting),there isn;t "jack" difference uin grouping out to 20-25 yards. Past that, the faster PCP tend to shoot betrer, and by 50 yards the PCP is eaisly ahead (so long as you are sung really heavy weight >177 pellets).
Seriously...what's not to like?
If your are "futzing" around in the back yard, use the "Plinkster" co2. If you are getting serious with 50 yard pest, use the "Varmint".
Seems simple to me....having fun/practicing/shooting critters at 20-25yards: user the co2 version. Looking for tougher critters on longer distances, youse the PCP version.
Have not run into a better related combo than these two....co2 and PCP...different rifles, different gases for different jobs....but they work out together quite well.
