Mrod gauge ports now polished??

So I've been through 10+ Mrods. It's been quite awhile since I've owned one but bought 2 refurb the last few weeks. Haven't been into the .177 yet but tore my .22 down tonight. Upon doing so I found that the gauge port was very shiny and smooth as a baby's butt. I have a few spares and all are a dull color and not the smoothest. Have they changed the process? I'll tear in my .177 sometime in the future for a complete clean and reseal (no leaks just what I do so they start fresh once there mine) and I'll look to see if it's shiny as well. It looks like they polish them now which I wonder why that is.

My Maximus is bright as well. Probably nothing more than using a new, sharp end mill cutter for the plunge cut. That is exactly how Alu. should look when proper tooling is used. 
Especially if they have switched to coated-carbide tooling.

None of mine are shinny like a disco or maximus gauge block.  I'm not sure, but thought the Mrod was anodized.  Crosman conserving a couple of dollars?
