Hello again everyone, just noticed something again on my Benji XL 1500 today. If you notice in the first pic, the tube cover on the rear (pt#B22-00-5) seems to be straight. Now if you look at the second pic...it looks like it has turned?? All I did was take off the Centerpointe scope and that shouldn't affect that right?....been thru only 200 rounds too.
I also used locktite, so all screws are good........weird to me.

I'm unfamiliar with that particular gun but it appears the rear dust cap is merely a friction fit. If you removed the stock you could probably remove the cap or rotate it at will. If it is in fact threaded on it may not have been quite tight and could be unscrewing.

ok thanks, I had to ask JIC....don't want to ruin it just yet. Already down a scope...lol. Just took the stock off and used some small need nose pliers in the holes to tighten it up....it was loose!...locktite it too??...lol

NOW I know what it is!! You remove the cap to get the gas strut and piston out. I do not believe I'd use Loctite to hold it in place. Tightening it should do. Look at the cutout in the stock. I don't believe it can back all the way out, even if it wants to.
The thing is, looking at the parts diagram it appears there should be a cross pin to keep it from rotating.

You may be looking at the wrong parts diagram. The one i was looking at for the Benjamin XL 1500 doesn't have a cross pin. Either way I think it's just a cover and your right about it not being able to back out due to the stock. Got it as tight as I could without using locktite cause like you said....when I eventually tear this down for a tune it would be a PITA w/ all the locktite.
BTW, how do I attach links like you did?

Yes, Frank, the end cap IS threaded. So, no Loctite. Just a little tighter should do it. When you get twenty posts, you will be able to post links and pictures.

Thanks Mobile! Been reading as much as I can about this rifle and all the mods people have done to make it have a more consistent POI. Seems like one thing after another.

The weak points for consistency for Crosman seem to me to be the piston seal, the barrel pivot, and the trigger. The higher power of the XL series will also make it difficult to hold stable through the shot cycle.
Generally speaking, the more powerful guns are harder to shoot consistently.
