Alfonso, any of the electric scales will serve.
Actually a in-expensive jeweler's scale would be best as the pellets don'w weigh much.
Look into the Lyman brand...
I do not sort my pellets.
I wash/lube them and insure the skirts are round.
Does it do any good?
I am 71 years old.
How good can it do?

Alfonso and Frank if you are a competitive shooter some go to great lengths to insure shot to shot consistency so they sort weigh lube and measure head sizes. I don't even bother with lubing my pellets just grab one from the tin and shoot. At 70 I can always blame my flyers on unsorted pellets much easier that way.

The only sorting I do is sort the .22 from the .25. Until I began entering the long range comps I didnt weigh either. Seemed like there was always at least one pellet out of 5 that went wherever it wanted to. I purchased an inexpensive and was real surprised in the spread on pellet weights with the very popular brand JSB brand.
For testing purposes I shot 5 of the lightest in the tin and 5 that weighed 1 grain more,. Measuring the center of each group and checking the POI I had a drop of .900" at 100 yards,
The next comp I submitted my best target ever in both .22 and .25, both under 1.000ctc.
So, YES the weighing improved my results at 1oo or more yards but I will not bother for everyday plinking.

Thanks. Good information to have guys. I had just ordered a $22 scale on amazon prime. If not accurate I can always return it. So for paper shooting testing different pellets I should sort by weight. I don't have the head pellet sorter yet. But if I shoot tin cans I shouldn't bother. I did unknowingly shot .22 pellets before on my .25 cal Marauder and I was wondering why the pellets fly 10 feet only lol.

I shoot with a current and many times past National FT Champion.
He opens the tins and shoots.
I see many shooters inspect the already, sorted, weighed, lubed pellets as they are inserting the pellets into the rifle.
He doesn't.
I have asked him if he wanted to shoot my rifle.
He asks two questions:
What pellet am I shooting?
What speed are you shooting?
Then he drops them all without even looking at my Chairgun Data Range Card.
Many times I have almost changed hobbies because of him.

I sort and weigh for hunting, especially the big bore stuff. I use a pellet sorter for bad skirts, a pellet gauge for head size, and a sizing die to even things up and get the right diameter for a particular gun in .177 and .22 cal.. I do this a lot for squirrel and rabbit hunting. Great rainy day project.

If I were hunting or competitive shooting I would do the sorting and weighing but since my shooting is strictly recreational it really serves no purpose

IF, you have an absolutely PERFECT shooting technique and can repeat this perfect technique EVERY trigger pull, pellet sorting might be for you...
Me, I pluck um right outa da tin and choot! I will toss any damaged, unformed pellets I find as I'm plucking into my scrap lead pile.

So, if you're weighing, head sizing, and doing other sorting, where do you draw the line? If the pellet is within + or - 0.1 grain is it acceptable? How about 0.2 grain? Is + or - 0.01mm head size acceptable? how about 0.02mm? If you sort out "acceptable weights" and then eliminate a certain number due to head size, you might end up eliminating most of the pellets in the tin.

Generally NO ... tho the exception being that when going to the Big STATE / REGIONAL level Field Target matches will absolutely check all pellets for size and make sure skirts have no dents.

Received the Frankford Arsenal DS-750 scale today. So far so good. It reads the same reading (5X) from the calibration weight it came with. Im handling it like " delicate & precious gem" $22 to stay accurate. Im not letting my 3 yr old son and 5 yr old son play with it. Lol.
