Noob to PCP's here; Awaiting Marauder; most economical tank setup?? No scuba

On the downside, I bought the wrong sized Scope Rings for my scope, but that upside is that I've been wanting to replace this POS scope anyways.  What is everyone's thoughts on a solid scope for the Marauder?

I'm mostly using this for pest control in the backyard, 20-30 yards tops.  Not looking to break the bank, but want a quality scope nonetheless.

Hawke Vantage 4-12X very good scope and well only cost you a modest $130

No mods yet...but I will tell you the only thing I am upset with my new Marauder are the years that I've gone without it lol!

So I ended up going with a Centerpoint scope and thought the Medium height mounts would work.  They do not with the 40mm, too close to the barrel and actually scrapes the barrel when adjusting the focus.  Unfortunately had to go with High mounts, but overall, this Air rifle is a beast!

Something I did not know until I just started researching tanks...
 While the metal tanks have a "Born on" date and a 5 year Hydro date to be re-hydro tested every 5 years and can re certified over and over.
 The Carbon Fiber tanks have a "Born on" date that will expire, they have a useful life and even if they can physically pass a hydro they will not be tested and are no longer useful.

No issues with the hand pump and I am glad I didn't invest a small fortune into a tank w/o really knowing what I was getting into.

The Taousa pump with moisture absorbing attachment is top-notch!!!  I keep my mrod at close to 2800 psi and when it gets down to about 2500, pump it up again.  No issues whatsoever.

Now in about 10 or 15 years, might be a different story

I was a "stiff neck" for a couple of years ( not saying you are) and made similar statements.  Once I did finally get a tank I felt like I should have listened to the advice thrown my way much sooner.


Having a tank is so much better and I enjoy shooting so much more and now can go shoot with friends and to fun shoots or just enjoy a afternoon of shooting on my own.  Owning a tank does have its on woes but is still worth the effort.  If you don't plan on shooting much then yeah having just a hand pump makes economical sense but if not, pick up a reasonably priced used setup and have a much better air gunning experience like me and many others are doing without breaking the bank.  If you don't have a fill source within reasonable driving distance then I hate that for you.
