Nice job man! I have an 85 that I went the "other way" with, and put it in an 87 QE stock. Still have the QE synth stock? Oh, and what kind of scope mounts are you using?

Still have the stock for the 87 with future plans for it. The scope rings are my personal favorite Hawke 1 inch reach Forward Match mounts reversed to get the eye relief I want. All I did was take them apart and paint all the pieces with the Krylon Metallic Brass paint I did the trigger guard and butt pad spacer with.

I have really grown to love that 87 QE stock. Feels great, not to heavy, and an adjustable comb...whaaat? My only real complaint is the comb doesn't have a lock ring. Mine ends up bottomed out every few hundred shots if I don't watch it. But that QE in wood, very nice. I especially like the brass plates (if I didn't say it before). I think that's a nice touch.

Stick a spacer under the check piece.  1/2 round wood dowl would work, or go crazy with it
Once you get the right height for you, leave it.

Get that comb where you want and maybe try some clear nail polish on the threading and see if that stops it.
