Benjamin 600 Automatic

I picked up an old Benjamin 600 Automatic for next to nothing at local antique shop.One of my sons immediately gravitated to it,bypassing Racine  392's/342's and Sheridan's.I would like to have it repaired as a gift for him.I am looking for a  good repair person.Thanks John

Hello Johnboy,

Congratulations on your find.  The Benjamin 600 is one of the rarer Benjamins to find, especially in working condition.  I have 2 versions of the 600.  The first one I bought on an internet site and is fun to operate.   I pump it up to at least 20 pumps and it will shoot the entire magazine of 25 bb's.  I have measured the velocity with a chronograph and it will shoot from just over 300fps to about 270 over the entire magazine.  Not much power but a lot of fun to shoot inside at about 25 ft.  The trigger is very hard and will click another bb into position every time the trigger is pulled.

The other variant of the 600 I have I won on an internet auction had a blockage in the magazine.  Some idiot had ramrodded .177 pellets into the bb magazine all the way to the opening in the barrel.  I had a very difficult time fishing about 5 crushed pellets out of the magazine to clear the blockage.  I sent it to be resealed.  It has a completely different mechanism from the other 600 I described.  Instead of having a hard trigger, it has a soft trigger the released the air much less precise than the hard trigger.  In this version I can only get about 5 to 6 shots per pump but the speed of the shots are higher starting at about 350.  Not as much fun as the other 600.
