Well, let me give this post a bump to bring it back up the list...
Thought I'd give it a try, but I found out it isn't going to be easy...Though my shooting is doing pretty well on the squirrels, it isn't quite up to this level. I'm going to have to practice some, take a hard look at my rest, or come up with that shooting stick I wanted to build. At this point, my shooting standing (well, leaning against the house) with my "shooting stick" was about the same as my shooting off the window sill on a bag, but 1" groups isn't good enough. I'll post a scan tomorrow (the scanner is at the office).

Ok here's what I mean...
The "old" testing was essentially 20 or 25 yards. That first row may have all been "standing, shooting at the maple" at a relative's house. Last week I surprised myself on the seated shooting a few times. I was sitting and using a shooting stick (no table or bench), just to see what would happen.
The "new" testing was to see if my rest was up to the 30 yard match. This "rest" is a cat door mounted in a window so I can snipe the squirrels in the back yard. Well, apparently not yet. Some days are better. Then for kicks I stepped outside and shot standing with my shooting stick (1/2" EMT), with the benefit of leaning my back on the door frame. Probably should have used the door frame to help my pole hand.
The ring is 5/8" diameter. I shot .177 RWS Supermags for all these. We'll keep practicing.

David:
Don't worry about the score. One of the good things about these matches is that it lets you tract progress over time. Print out a few 30 yard targets and give it a go. There are some really good groups and subgroups in targets. I believe that it is just a matter of time before your groups will really tighten up. I don't get a chance to shoot this match much but digging out my old Caldwell bag rests improved my score.
Are you using your BSA PCP for the above targets? How many different pellets have you tried looking for "the one?"

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the encouragement. I'll try some more, time permitting. I'm feeling a little rusty these days.
That shooting was with the Gamo CFX. I still lack a pump with which to fill the BSA. Saving up my pennies is taking a while, but I have decided I'll try one of $75 clones on eBay. When that time comes, I already have about 15 different pellets to try on it. Those were bought during pellet matching for the Gamo, during which process I found the Meisterkugeln and Supermags were the best. The Crosman Ultra Magnums were very good too, but they don't punch paper nicely and I didn't like they way they worked on squirrels so I don't actually shoot them. Come to think of it, I might do well to pull them out for this match just to see.

David,
I'm not familiar with the GAMO CFX other than knowing that it is a springer. It looks like your groups are starting to tighten up nicely.
You also might want to check out the 10 meter offhand rifle match.

There is also a 10M Off Season Bench match that Jim is hosting that is going on now. These matches should give you plenty of trigger time.
Try some of the other pellets you have. Don't worry about not punching paper well, when checking for score just center the head of a wadcutter pellet over the hole and score accordingly.
These matches are all about having fun and getting some trigger time. Keep practicing you'll do well.

Unfortunately the Kral broke (trigger and safety jammed) right after I shot this target! Sent it back to PA. This rifle had several issues, like the fill probe not getting a good seal and the magazines jamming every 50th or so shot. I'm sure I just got a lemon, and that Kral does make good guns.
So my little foray into PCPs came to an end. I am going to remain a springer guy. To that end, I have ordered a TX200.
In contrast to the Kral, my Diana 34 is a real joy to shoot, and it never complains much. I use it in Hunter Field Target competition, and it has done well.
