Heavy 880

My son picked up an 880 today. The first thing I noticed was it was all metal like mine. But when having it side by side with mine, I noticed it was much heavier than mine.
The only outwardly difference between the two is that his has a bunch of writing on the side (16 year old age warnings etc) where mine is slick on both sides.
Any info on these two rifles and their differences would be greatly appreciated.

His stock may be filled with something heavy.

Stonykill is an advocate of putting caulk (one tube!) in the stock to give the 880 a bit more heft and balance.
Don't do like I did, though, and put TWO tubes of caulk in though. It over balances it the wrong direction...

I guess my question was really about the recievers being different (one with writing, one without). Anyone have any age estimates on these types?
