Air Force Texan hunting accuracy

Them look like they would have a pretty high B.C. Nick, at what pressure were you tethered at?

I tethered to 2800 psi when I did my testing.  Hopefully Tofazfou will chime in and report what he tethered to.

In my Texan I normally tether between 2500 psi and 3000 psi.  I also tried this bullet tethered to around 2000 psi and it still did great.

Thanks Nick............I bought a valve for Texan, Doug has it.......I also have the HEAVY spring from Jeremy from SA..If Doug doesn't open the  valve up some to pass more air, I will get it back and drill and grind on it myself     I want a better TEXAN with ability to pump up to around 3500-3600 psi and the spring OPEN that valve it MAY help it come alive or work in that area to make it better???  Your bullet looks good and if it works at 100 it will be fine at 200-300 yds I believe.  Will be willing to help find out.......Have to soon get the Texan  and something to play with....About done playing with the .257 as gone as far as i can.......3rd one is being finished as I write this......Gunsmith just called and is fitting the new barrel, chambering, crown etc...........

What size does bore slug at......Also what is your AS CAST dimension?.............../Going to order from site...................... Carl

Just adding to what Nick reported.

1st, I tethered Nicks Texan to right at 3000 psi in which my gauge is DEAD ON.  So 3000 PSI FILL!  I did not test with 2700-2800-2900 psi.  So there is possibly MORE potential here.

2nd, I finally found the power wheel......lol....With Nicks guidance...lol!  Long story short, the PW itself has a line with holes around its circumference.  It then has like 6 vertical lines left to right that line up with the power wheel adjustment line.  AS TESTED, the PW line meets up with the 2nd to last line to the right.  So the power wheel is almost at MAX in other words. Probably one full turn from MAX.  Hope this makes sense as i find it MORONIC that Air Force did NOT use the same PW number labeling for PW settings like its done on all its guns in the past.

3rd, Velocity was approximately 772-775 with Nicks slugs.  That's 492 FPE.

4th, I tested at all PW settings EXCEPT maxed out.  I did not test for POWER at MAX PW setting.

5th, 3-5 shots touching at 50 yards and 100 yards.  When I say touching, i mean TOUCHING.  Like overlapping.  I have very little experience shooting the Texan.  So this should tell you Texan expert shooters/owners the possibly of accuracy with Nicks 372 gr slugs

6th, Nick got the gun and started shooting at 100 yards and I spotted him.  He got the same size group i did at 100 yards so this bullets accuracy is verified by 2 totally DIFFERENT shooters (i'm the better one though....lol)

Sorry that I did not take any pics of the groups or the slugs destruction on my RABBIT (Nick, you owe me another steel rabbit... ).  When you have 4-5 guys shooting airguns and testing each other, its hard getting pics and video cause the action is just too fast and fierce.
