Ignorant question for Hatsan AT44 owners re. part

I just got my Hatsan AT44S a few days ago and in the box is a brass part about 3/4" in diameter and 1 13/4" long, knurling on one end and female internal threads on the other. WTH is it? A regulator of some sort or.......? Also where would it be installed and what is its function?

I'm guessing here because I'm not fortunate enough to have an AT44 yet, but I would say probably a cover to go over the valve when the air cylinder is removed.

Does double duty as a cover for the valve end of the cylinder (good guess ) and a degassing tool for the cylinder.

In the "more than you needed to know" category:

Odd...but there are two types (or at least there were).


One is pretty much solid brass...no screw in the top and no vent hole in the side.  That once came with a factory rifle.  The other (and I hope tht became the "standard" one) has a screw in the top and vent hole on the side (which came with a later replacement air tube).






The one with the screw in thr top/vent hole in the side can be used to either protect the treads when the air tube is detached from the rifle, or to degas the air tube (just screw it on and then screw down the allen screw...which depresses the valve stem...and the air "whissssses" out the little vent hole).


The one without the screw in the top is just a thread protector...although with a little work (vent hole and a threaded screw in from the top) could turn it into a degasser.

Thanks a lot Mr. Stone, mind if I call ya Ribbon? Seriously, really appreciate it! Don't think I'd have figured that out without some help. Mine has the allen screw & the vent hole so that's good. Man, I really love the rifle but the "manual" is a bad joke. Probably much more I'll "need to know", just don't know it yet..........
