Recycled Powerlet... QB78 Custom Bolt Handle

I told the wife a couple weeks ago that I needed to fit the QB with a larger bolt handle, she asked me what I was going to use and I jokingly picked up a powerlet and said "one of these", then I started thinking why not:



A quick spin in the lathe to ream a 5/16 hole all the way through and hit it with some ultra fine scotchbrite pads actually didn't look half bad:



I waxed and oiled the bare steel, if that doesn't want to hold up too well I'm going to try blueing it (I'm not sure how well the SPAM metal the powerlets are made of will take blueing, but it's worth a shot). It didn't TIG weld too bad when I mated the pin stock to the powerlet so the steel must not be pure garbage.

I couldn't agree more... it's definitely built for comfort and not speed. So far I like it, but we'll see how it grows over time. May need to build a mini version of it sometime, the stock bolt handle is going to be a donor for my 760 bolt rebuild I think.

As embarrassing as it is... I made a deal with another GTA member for an item and can't remember who it was due to my CRS disease and being too danged lazy to look it up..... anyhoo... along with my item he sent me a really cool little LDC made from a spent C02 cart. The nipple end was cut off and fitted with with a simple adapter drilled and tapped with a set screw that fit over a Crosman barrel. The other end was drilled for clearance for the pellet size of choice to exit without clipping. It allows room for the  unused air pressure to expand inside this chamber and does an amazing job. My little 17" barreled C02 carbine went from "BANG" to a mild little "pop". Painted to match the barrel makes for a nice clean finish to the business end of the gun.

The peep flips right down out of the way for adding a scope.

It actually has 2 set screw holes. I used one to put the extended screw in for the front sight.
