No Idea How This Happened

I sure wish I knew how this happened. Bought the Great White used, 6 months old. Had it filled and everything was alright. Had it filled again and filled the Mrod one time and all was fine.

On the next fill I had a leak at the Foster 12FSS fitting. I figured all it needed was a new o-ring. I replaced both o-rings and applied a little silicone grease. Made the hook-up and still leaked.

I thought for sure it was the 12FSS fitting. After giving it  a little thought I went down and checked the male fitting coming out of the tank with my loupe and below is what I found.

There's no way an o-ring is going to make a seal with all those divots in the flange.

Any thoughts ?

Were the marks are is were the balls grab the fitting. The o-ring seals on one the flat surface behind those marks. The o-ring won't go quite that far up so it should not effect the seal. Not sure why the balls are leaving those marks.

I wonder if someone replaced the QD fittings with cheap ones or fittings made for CO2 instead of hpa. The oring seals at the front as has already been mentioned but the QD fitting could have a sloppy lock up due to the metal being pushed away from force causing the seal to not seal I would replace those QD fittings with good ones made for HPA before filling anymore.

You bring up a very good point. The 12FSS ( female  ) fitting has " Foster " stamped right on it, but the 1/8" male does not.

Can someone check to see if their 1/8" male quick disconnect fitting has " Foster" stamped on it.

I looked at my guppy last night and do not have the marks on the foster from the balls.  I do take the hose off and store it from the tank, so they are not staying in the same position for long.  Also, did not see anything that said "foster" on the male.

 I looked at my male fitting on the Mrod and it didn't have any marks on it. So, it either came like that but wasn't bad enough to leak when I got it, or the place that fill it may have damaged it when filling. It's hard to believe two fills would have done that much damage but I guess it might be possible.

I have some new fittings coming from Joe to replace the bad ones. The next time I have my tank filled, I'll check the male fitting before I leave.
