Marauder lawyer spring

I just modified my marauders lawyer spring. What a difference it made! It's a lot smoother and easier to pull now. Between watching a quick video and doing the work I think it only took me about 15 minutes to do.

I'm definitely glad I did it. I'm guessing it will help with accuracy because of the easier trigger pull now.

Once the lawyer spring is out of the equation, the pull weight adjustment actually has a decent range.

That's relative. I hate light triggers I prefer a lawyer trigger where I can cough breath adjust fiddle around then take the shot. You guys like to breath on stuff lightly and let it go off

I've never been a fan of tough triggers personally. The good thing is I bet you can bend the spring back if it were to be done and someone wasn't happy with it. And if not then I bet a replacement spring can't be more than a few bucks. It was worth the try for me I guess.

I'm middle of the road on this one. I don't like scary light triggers, but I like them light enough to go off when (and not before) I add the extra tug. But I would rather shoot a slightly heavier trigger with a clean break than a light, creepy one. Too light, and you're into the "break" before you're ready.

I couldn't get it quite light enough with the lawyer spring in, but without it, using the pull weight adjuster, I can dial the pressure up or down so it isn't scary, and isn't heavy.

I agree about an extremely light trigger. A little tension isn't a bad thing. I just think a stock marauder trigger wasn't as good as it could be and after bending the lawyer spring I think it's just right.

  I prefer smooth and predictable then ~ two pounds is a great all around trigger light enough to shoot targets and heavy enough to hunt . Above all I want smooth and predictable JMHO

i like a really light 2 stage for guns not going in the field, but heavier for the guns that will see field use.

What is the "lawyer" spring?

If you look up a Marauder parts diagram and find the trigger assembly drawing, it is part 6U, PN 1763-065 (at least, in the diagram I have). Its only purpose in life is to add a little extra pressure on the sear so the trigger doesn't become so light as to be possibly be unsafe.  What some folks do is to straighten out the right-angle end of the spring so it doesn't press on anything, but otherwise leave it in place to maintain trigger spacing.  It is a mod that can be done in just a few minutes, and is easily reversed.

Personally I like to collapse the lawyer spring a bit then reinstall... just take a bit of the spring outta the spring...  I feel its a better option then either removing and or bending the leg..... AND makes the tension adjustment work like a charm from super light target trigger to a nice firm but smooth hunting trigger..... and even with it set to nice and firm it feels smoother without that heavy spring stacking on you....

For those of us that actually know how to use the adjustments properly, it isn't a simple feather at all! We have plenty of time to breath, take our time, readjust and move if necessary. We don't simply go as light as possible just because we can. Spending too much time making one shot is a proven way to MISS if you really want to know the cold hard truth as it causes your eye to strain and you start to get tunnel vision. Lawyer springs are there for the in-experienced shooters that just want to adjust things because they can. Hence the term "Lawyer" spring.

Now, try not take that an insult but as advice and something positive that you can keep in your kit-bag so to speak.
