Getting in on this thread for updates. Picked up a Summit in .177. Light and hollow but good form and comfortable. Thing shoots fast! Pretty much flattens out all the lead pellets in 7 or 8 grain when it hits the duct seal, flat head match pellets look like Crow Magnums after impact! Was hoping the trigger would be lighter unless there is a fix like on the first one. I have to look at all the postings you guys put up here. Probably should have went with the upgraded Trail 2 for the scope and sling but the Summit was $141 shipped from Crosman with a Tuesday discount. Hard to pass it up. Just started shooting indoors but thinking it will turn out to be a good hunter. If anything like my original Trail, long break in period.
So I scoped the Summit with the Center Point 3x9x32 from Wally World. Was shooting dead on close to 15 yards with out cleaning the barrel. Not sure if they do anything different to the gun when you purchase directly from Crosman? Anyway the recoil on this gun is crazy. It is throwing the scope backwards. I picked up my Trail original .22 and it is super mild compared to this power plant. I am wondering if I should have gotten a .22 and if that would have less violent kick? I am thinking that this might be too much gun for .177 caliber. I know heavier is probably better but it is shooting all the crosman lead pretty good it seems.
Nope this thing thumps harder than any spring I own. Hatsan Edge throws lead 800 for 20 lbs and it's more mild than this gun in recoil.
