I am thinking of buying a co2 pistol, and was wondering what the difference is in a 2400 and 2240? From the pictures I can't tell much difference, and want to know before I dump my money into one or the other. thanks much for any advice.

This should be interesting. I was thinking of starting a 2400 vs 2260 thread.

When I ordered my 2400 I didn't see that much difference, except for few choices...I chose the 2400 for the camo stock and forearm...with its 14.5 barrel and cheepy Winchester scope its a tack driver...I just put together a 1322 with 18" barrel and tasco 4x32 and it shoots just as good...good luck on your choice...Here is a sweet 2260 wish I had the funds....

The 2400kt is a custom shop gun based on the 2250 tube. I think the custom shop offering based on the 2240 tube is called a 2300kt.
The 2300T is almost the same as a 2240 but it's .177, has a 10" barrel, comes with a steel breech, better sights, and may or may not (I can't remember) have a volume reducer in the valve. I think the 2300S is the same as the 2300T but has even better sights, a muzzle weight, a LW barrel, and (I think) the valve reducer.
There may be other subtle variations too like a different/extended bolts, etc, I'm not too sure about all the differences but that's how I've always had the models organized in my head.

Blue pretty much summed it up. There isn't a bunch difference between them but tube length. They all use the same valve with the 2300 s I believe has a reducer in the valve. If you are going to mod the gun the best place to start is the custom shop. You can't beat the prices on the upgrades that most people are going to do to a 2240 to start with.

thank you every one for the valuable information. It has made my mind up now as to which one I will get. After that one I am saving my nickles for a Disco, time to embrace the "dark side", LOL.

My 2300 has the same trigger as my prod. My 2240 has the same trigger as my 13xx. The 2300\prod trigger is more adjustable and a little lighter pull. The 2300 comes in a 177cal. and cost $174 at PA. the 2240 comes in 22cal. and cost $59 at PA. The 2300 is a nicer gun. IMO and you can get more shots per co2 cart with it, about 65 shots. The 2240 you get around 40-45 shots per co2 cart

unless one of the triggers of the 2300 or p-rod was changed..or an unlikely mistake at the factory..the triggers aren't the same. the p-rod trigger group is a very nice upgrade for the crosman platform. altering or changing the hammer is needed for the conversion. the 2300 has the over-travel screw and an adjustable trigger spring tensioner , which is otherwise a 2240/13xx trigger. the p=rod trigger is another beast altogether, it's a 2 stage that can be set up pretty nicely.
