I have been thinking of an interesting pellet design for pest control for some time now and wonder if any of the homemade pellet makers have ever given it any thought. It would have a thin waist that would come apart on impact allowing the front section to continue to travel straight while the skirt section traveled in different direction. This would provide two chances of hitting a vital area. Any thoughts?

During my tour in Viet Nam, tunnel rats were issued (in very limited supply) .45 bullets that split into sections upon impact. It would be interesting to see that in a .25 pellet for pest control.
