Two more CMP 853s

These are for my two sons - some friendly 10m competition when they're home from school.  Well maintained by HHS JROTC - nice wood, no dings or scratches, and bluing is in great shape.  These CMP 853s remain the best deal in the AG community!

Did you get the Monte Carlo stock or the Straight one. Just trying to decide. Yours look really nice. How is the trigger pull? Will it need work?

Looks like the Monte Carlo stock.
For target shooting, IMHO, the MC stock is the better design.

As for the trigger, you do not know, nor have any control over what you get.  The gun may or may not have the trigger mod applied.  If not, I would do the trigger mod.  At least do mod #1, smoothen and polish the engaging surfaces on the trigger sear and striker.  In my experience, that will get you 80% of the improvement of the 3 trigger mods, based on a new rifle with the sear not worn in.

Both new rifles have the Monte Carlo stocks like the CMP 853 I already have.  The stock trigger isn't as awful as you might have heard, but I did the recommended trigger mod on mine with the 887 trigger group from Daisy.  I'm very happy with the pull now, clean adjustable single stage with a nice crisp break. I haven't opened these two up yet but I'm assuming I'll need to do the trigger mod on these as well.  It's easy and not expensive, well worth the time and $.

Stocks are refinished on #s 2 and 3.  Next up is the 887/888 trigger mod.  #1 already has the trigger mod plus the 753 front and rear sight group.
