I was under the assumption that port was how the ram is adjusted. I noticed a screw in photos of Vortex models right there with stock off that are not in springer models. I know the vortex air ram is adjustable so...might be where one does it.
I'm taking it there was no pin in that hole.If that's a refurb, could it have been done by the prior owner thinking whatever he was thinking? And if so, doesn't say much for Hatsan when they refurbed it and didn't just scrap the rifle after finding that crater....
that larger hole is so the ram can be filled with more air without having to take the whole rifle apart. The only way to fill the ram is by using a PCP filler probe and a hand pump.

i knew what you were talking about in the first place, once again that is for filling the vortex piston without taking the whole rifle apart.... that hole is the same size as a PCP probe. I don't know how to make this any more simple for you...
