Regulator question for AT-44 .22

It lowers the velocity if you don't open the last port IIRC. You will know if it is on the "knee" by experimenting with your regulator and hammer spring combo, there was a chart Rsterne had about it but I can't find it. Good luck

Donny there is no free lunch.....To shoot 900fps two things has to happen in order to save shoot count.
1, Is efficiency not to waste air
2, Is  the proper amount of air to push the pellet @ 900fps
if you just want to shoot now @ 900fps you need to turn reg up...Thats why I said that my friend Nick was wrong as to the reg setting for 900fps.

 Take your time and learn.. and remember Do One Thing At A Time! examine the increase, then do another... This is the best way to see the results of a mod...(without moving the hammer spring.)

Few can say whether blocking the valve holes gained shots, or power because they moved either the hammer spring or did other things at the same time. Thats why its important to do one thing then test, then add to it and test.

Thanks!  That is pretty much what I'm understanding.  I completely understand there is no free lunch   I have only played with the hammer adjustment at this point after installing the reg.  Now, if I were to turn up the reg and back off the hammer what would happen?  Would I be accomplishing the same thing as I have now, but in a different way?  If I go over 4 turns from minimum, the velocity seems to go down a bit, and the same if I go under two turns from minimum.  I do intend to mod the valve, but only after I have a spare one, in case I mess up.  I know I will have to play with it all over again after that is done.  I'm still trying to understand what having the hammer set on the "knee" means though?  I'm going to find that chart pllagunos is talking about too.
