Funny story from WAR

 I had a customer pick up his gun in person last week and wanted me to mount his scope and sight it in, No problem. I mounted his brand new high end scope and rings and I had him grab a tin of pellets from next to my chronograph and we walked over to my shooting bench and started putting pellets on paper. Well thats what we intended to do but I never hit the paper 30 yards away!!! Im thinking I must be clipping  a baffle so I removed the LDC he loaded up another mag and handed it to me and I cannot get this gun to hit paper 30 yards away!!! Holy smoke whats the deal? I stop looking threw scope and use line of sight down barrel and shoot into dirt. Its hitting 6 feet left!!! Then its hitting 3 feet right then who knows where??? After inspecting probe and barrel and everything else we go back out to shooting bench and Im starting to feel awkward as Im shooting in front of my customer with his new gun and its spraying everywhere. Well anyway he loads me another clip and then I see it!!! He picked up a tin of .22 monsters and were shooting a .30!!! He was loading clips and handing them to me and I never noticed LOL!!!!!!

I will admit to sticking a 177 into my 22 and shooting 2 or 3 before going WHAT THE HECK ! .. then it was /facepalm and a LOL at myself

Oh geez, that must have been super awkward at first. Especially with how insanely accurate WAR guns are. That's too good.

Haaaaaa. Thanks for sharing that. I have also put a .177 in a .22 by mistake. I read you post thinking "Oh no, I hope it's nothing serious.... oh, wrong pellet HAR !"

I know of a guy that was having problems with his .25 MRod 'cause he'd picked up a tin of .22 JSB Exacts when he loaded the mag instead of .25 Kings.

That would have been super awkward... I'm not sure what I would have done...
I've had a similar encounter, got my brothers out shooting
my little FT course just plinking, having fun and hitting pretty well,
then my youngest brother starts having a lot of trouble hitting with his gun
you could tell from the dirt spray its was shooting randomly...
go to check it out only to find he was using .177 pellets in a .22  problem solved.

Yep, that will do it.  I bet that was concerning for a few minutes.

this happens to me more then it should... I usually have a couple tins of pellets sitting on my workbench for quick grabs, test firing, chrony, whatever... a lot of time the lids either get switched or I just reach into the wrong tin to grab a pellet....

Just yesterday counted pellets into the Drop Pouch, grabbed a Daystate MkII from its soft case on the back seat and walked down onto the dock to look for turtle heads. Set up the tripod and tried to load a .22 pellet into the .177 rifle! Have one in each caliber and simply unzipped the wrong case.

Yep, and .25 JSBs will NOT fit in my .22 Disco no matter how much I cuss..........

Sense getting a .20 cal earlier this year ... have now TWICE  grabbed a few that were loose around the chrony station sending them down range in a .22
No, that does not work well either ... facepalm time

Okay, I'll confess.... (not a switched-pellet error)

Last winter I stopped by an airgun buddy's house and we were deep in conversation out in the 40-degree garage. I gladly accepted his offer for a cup o' joe, he made mine in his little Keurig knockoff and then made his.   

So we talked and gawked and I sipped my way through the first cup of coffee by the time he grabbed his. He took a drink and his face wrinkled, "Did you get any coffee in your coffee? Mine's water."   Sure enough, I had enjoyed my first quarter cup of...hot water.   

Turns out his fancy new machine had a lever out of place and never punched the coffee thing through to give us the java goodness. 

Boy did I feel dumb...  I'll never make it as a coffee snob, but I'll intently listen to your stories!

Yep! Done that,  Built a nice 1322 carbine and could not hit the side of the barn with it. Had the breech and barrel off when I saw the tin of 177 pellets. Put the gun back together, Got some 22cal pellets, and the gun shot great.
