Nutter Season Day 2

Got skunked during yesterdays opening day but headed back into the woods for day #2. My truck is still DOA in the driveway so again I had to wait for the wife to get home this afternoon so I could use her car. As soon as she pulled into the driveway I grabbed my .22 cal Mrod, put on my hunting vest and headed for the woods down the road from my house. I arrived at the woods but it was already 3:30 so I basically only had a little over an hour to hunt since sunset was officially 4:46 pm. As soon as I entered the woods from the parking spot I heard a nutter barking in a nearby tree and he was close. I scanned the trees and spotted him at the top of a young maple tree about 50 yards away. He hadn't noticed me so I quickly, but quietly, worked my way to within 20 yard and a clear shooting location. I put the crosshairs on his noggin, pulled the trigger and heard that magic "POP" as the Kodiak struck him in the side of the head. He fell straight down to the forest floor and I had my first nutter harvest of 2015
I put him in the game pouch and headed off to find another.
Not having much time left to hunt I took a trail that headed straight to a section of the woods that is filled with black walnut trees. The walnut crop this year was amazing, there were huge walnuts covering the forest floor and the nutters have been hanging out in abundance in that section of woods ever since the trees started dropping their bounty.
It didn't take long, about 10 minutes, and I spotted a black phase nutter feeding on the ground 50 yards in front of me. My .22 Mrod is so accurate I had no hesitation about taking the shot but as I moved to my right so I could use a large walnut tree to steady my shot the nutter noticed the movement and made a bee line for this huge pine tree, quickly scrambling his way to the very top.
I got to the base of the pine tree and after searching the tree top for a few minutes spotted him hugging one of the large limbs tightly. I couldn't see much of him but I could just make out his right eye and his right ear. I put the crosshairs on target and sent the Kodiak on it's way. For the second time today I heard the magic "POP" and nutter # 2 fell to earth. Before the sun set any further down I propped my rifle and harvest on a nearby branch and snapped a couple of pics to post in the GTA Hunting Gate.
]
I hunted until just before sunset but didn't see any more nutters so I headed home to clean the years first harvest. Felt good to get the first harvest of the year under my belt and I'm looking forward to some fried nutter
Hope you enjoy the pics..
Jeff

If it was easy it wouldn't be hunting it would be shopping.
