Howdy all. I have been wanting a 4500 psi gun. I have been considering an extreme bigbore airgun. Where I live, I do not have access to HP nitrogen or helium, I would have to travel 200 miles to get tanks. I have an Omega supercharger which is fine at the house and works well on my SCBA tank. I would need something different for the range or out in the field. I have seen these HPA boosters and think that would be a great thing to have in the truck to fill the tank on a gun. The only one that I have found that is available to buy is a Haskel. It is a lot of money. I have found a couple of others for under $1k but are not available for sale. For the price of a Haskel, I can almost buy a gas powered HPA compressor. Anybody know where I might find a booster, Maybe even some plans that I can build one? Thanks for any help. Tom

Hi Tom,
If you're thinking about building one, I suggest your purchase and read the book titled
Improvised and Low Cost
HP Gas Boosters
by Airspeed Press:
https://ssl4.westserver.net/airspeedpress.com/ppcart.html
I'm in the process of building one now. I also have and use one of the manual boosters usually selling on the net for $600 now out of stock and listed at $750. I'd be happy to try to address any questions you might have.

Check with Brent at Extreme Big Bore.... He has made a few and has something in the works now as far as manufacturing... Not sure when they will be available...

Thank you Roger and Rizen. I ordered the book for educational purposes. I will have to call Brent. I chatted with him before about a gun, but have been on the fence about buying one because of an air source to feed one of those monsters. Tom

And Xisico should soon offer its booster-amplifier.

You don't need a book to build a booster, just look at a haskel booster cutaway and do the math.
Low pressure working piston, how much force available with given working pressure vs surface area?
How much pressure do you want? And what surface area does that is equilament vs working piston force?
Simple math and there's your blueprints, rest is just swept volume you want and material to do the job.
Two one way valves and 8 bolts, one large O ring and pressure piston seal and backup viton ring.

Sounds easy, thought it seemed simple enough, but I could never get the one I built to quit leaking on the HP piston seal....

Interesting video, air driven gas booster initiated at the 4 bar, helium takes to 40 bars, and see the speed of charging 120 to 190 bars, bottle maybe 2-3 liters, charging takes about 2 min.
