Benjamin Genesis at Waly World for $99 - Review

Wandering through Wal-Mart I found myself in the sporting goods section by the clearance items, and lo & behold there sits a Benjamin Genesis NP in .22 cal. marked down from $199 to $99. Not one to pass up a deal, I grabbed it and hauled it home. The only thing I noticed was that the box was a little beat up, and it was all taped up tight as a drum.

When I opened it, everything was still in the original packaging inside the box, so I mounted the scope and shot a couple dozen Crossman Premier HP pellets in my 12 yard range in the basement to zero the scope. It didn't take long to zero it, I adjusted teh trigger more to my liking, and all seemed to be fine. So I dismantled everything, cleaned all the screws and put threadlock on them, then let it sleep overnight.

The next day I went downstairs and couldn't believe how accurate this gun is. I fed it 4 different pellets from light to heavy, but it seemed to like the good old Crossman Premier 14.3 gr HP. Shot it over the crony with these pellets this afternoon, and it averaged 730.6 FPS (advertised up to 800 with lead) and came in at 16.96 FPE (advertised up to 21 fpe). Overall not bad for a $99 gun.

My brother was going to buy it from me then backed out this morning, so I'll probably put it up for sale this week. I have a Benjamin Trail NP in .22 already that I LOVE, so this would probably just sit around and not be used. Here's the 10-shot group at 12 yards after running less than 75 pellets through the gun. I'm sure it will tighten up like the Trail did after a couple hundred shots.
