.30 cal airgun barrels are 0.300" groove diameter, and the lands are smaller, typically about 0.294", to engrave the pellet properly.... .30 cal PB barrels, such as a 30-30, are 0.308" groove and 0.300" land, and the bullets intended to work with them are 0.308" nominal.... They will NOT fit in an airgun barrel, and the pellets designed for airguns will NOT work in the PB barrel.... So, to answer your question, if you use a 30-30 barrel, you will have to use cast bullets intended for PB barrels, which generally start at about 95 gr. and go up from there.... I designed a 79 gr. BBT in .308 cal, which is about as light as you can get, other than a roundball, which would be about 44 gr....Bob
