.30 barrel vs 308 barrel

Barrels to me are the fine detail work that Iam not well versed in. Heck, I can build the house but when the molding has to go up it's all crooked.

Tell me about .30 or .308 cal barrels....

Some of you know that I went the limit with .357 with a .22 synrod (ONLY 2 IN THE WORLD -AWESOME to me but stupid to others) but, it's time to change again because (well -  I don't have a good reason ).

My biggest question is:
What the heck can I shoot out of a .3 bore and .308 rifling diameter??? (Accurate)

Can I shoot JSB out of it accurately or do I need something like:

What other kind of ammo may do it for the 30 30 barrel or .308 that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

.30 cal airgun barrels are 0.300" groove diameter, and the lands are smaller, typically about 0.294", to engrave the pellet properly.... .30 cal PB barrels, such as a 30-30, are 0.308" groove and 0.300" land, and the bullets intended to work with them are 0.308" nominal.... They will NOT fit in an airgun barrel, and the pellets designed for airguns will NOT work in the PB barrel.... So, to answer your question, if you use a 30-30 barrel, you will have to use cast bullets intended for PB barrels, which generally start at about 95 gr. and go up from there.... I designed a 79 gr. BBT in .308 cal, which is about as light as you can get, other than a roundball, which would be about 44 gr....

IDK about that in practice. I have had two of those .300/26" twist pellet barrels, and both were .3015 groove and .295 bore. made more than a year apart, and to different OD's. One a .500 the other a .590".

$24 bucks ain't to bad to try it out. I have read on some posts that the JSB's could and will work in a .308 barrel. Not as good as a PB round or airgun round at .308 for accuracy but I ain't shooting over 50 yards.

Looking for at or over 100 fpe in .308 for a minimum of 10 shots and 20+ shots at or just above 80fpe. This 24 inch barrel should do it when comparing to the .357 16.5" barrel.

With .2" porting through and through on the madrodder I am feeling good about the numbers. Just when I thought I was getting bored, all you cool guys are doing some amazing things with 30 cal.

I am still amazed when I here that a stock marauder valve ported and hogged correctly won't hit over 100fpe (without sleeving the throat).
