Hey sam, the 34 is made in Germany,
Awhile back they sourced out their barrels to a chinese barrel maker, I have 3 Dianas the 350 with 8 grooves in barrel (german) same as the 34 .177, but the 34 .22 has 12 grooves and is said to be chinese.
Well If that is true then Diana had some strict quality control, this 34 .22 with preds is just lethally accurate and before i swapped springs I was getting 16 fpe or 680 with preds, 710 with crosman premiers. Rob

The only prob with the RWS stuff is they tend to show up pretty dry when it comes to lubrication. Now you have to pay for a lube-tune. (don't forget shipping).

For a first gun the 350 is a hand full. Get a Diana 34 in .22 you will have enough power for the tree rats. Put in a JM or Vortek kit with a NEW SEAL, a scope with multiple aim points(Mil-Dot or a Hawke) good mount and you will be happier sooner than trying to master the 350. As for paying for a lube tune, all you need is a spring compressor of some kind and push out the 2 pins and you are in. One of the easiest designs to work on. The new T-06 34's are all German barrels. All this easily with your budget. For pellets get a tin of JSB's(or re-badged Air Arms), H&N FTT's, RWS Superdomes and Premiers 90% of the time one of these will be the best pellet for your gun.

Weeeehoo here we go with this debate again! Lol
I have a 350 in 22 and 177 and i can say they are tougher to shoot accurately but master the artilary hold and u r in there. With a little practice these guns are VERY accurate and the power is hard to beat. Both of mine have the Vortek pg2 kits in them and are home tuned. I shoot my 177 cal out to 100+ yards with reliable, golf ball killing accuracy. I have a 4-16x40ao scope on the 177. The 22 cal is set up for hunting. I have a 3-9x32 nonao scope on it. The 22 is just crazy powerful. Its almost unfare to unleash it on nutters under 40 yds. The 1st squirrel i shot with it at 11 yds was slammed down and the pellet put a hole in my. Boat garage 24 yds away. I am very happy with both but have to warn u hey are scope killers. I would start with a straight 350 get the utg droop mount and a leapers scope. The combos usually come with a cheaper scope hat will almost certainly fail.
The b28 is a copy of the 350 and people seem to like them. So if you don't want to pay for a 350 you might go hat route. But man the 350 will put a smile on ur face everytime you shoot it once u master it.

OK, I'm now an official pellet gunner! Tuesday night I went to the big city, stopped by Mid West Gun Exchange, they had several pellet guns, I looked at NP Trial and a Stoeger, also a RWS 34. After looking hard at em, the RWS definitely was the gun of quality. I ordered my gun online from PA on Wednesday and was firing it on Thursday. I mounted the scope and thought I had it dialed in. Today, in the morning I start the day by missing the first 5 Squirrels, So I set up my target board and pellets are way off. The scope had came loose, I tighten and still shots are off. Then I realized the gun frame/barrel are loose so I tighten them up. I site the gun back in, meanwhile a squirrel comes in range and I shot him, lucky me. During all this I shot maybe 200 pellets. Should I apply blue loctite to the scope bolts and the frame stock bolts on the gun?
Any little maintenance tips will be appreciated for a new RWS34 owner!

You should use Blue loctite on all the screws on the gun but I do not use it on my scope screws. It may help you out. After 200 shots I doubt you have the gun broken in yet and the POI will shift a little here and there until it is done. Also the RWS/Diana guns are usually a little dry inside. If you look around you can find some guides here that will help you break it down clean up the sharp edges of things and properly lube the gun. The spring in my D34P broke before a thousand shots and when I went in the gun found it was all dry as a bone and the seal was very chewed up. I have taken quiet a few tree rats with my D34 since then but I wish I had purchased the .177 instead of the .22.

Good choice SAM.
Even though I don't consider the 34 that hold sensitive,,,there's a good tutorial at P.A. for shooting springers.
It really helped me with my 1st "adult" ag.... a not so user friendly Blackhawk.

Make that 2 Red Squirrels my first full day with my new gun!
My big concern, there are a couple warnings in the paper work about not having the gun cocked more than a few minutes, it is hard on the spring. So, how do you guys feel about this? Sometimes it takes awhile for the little boogers to pop back out of their nest or arrive at the feeder.

I've always felt that leaving your gun cocked for more than 20min is probly not a good thing but then again some of my buddys leave theirs cocked for an hour or 2 while hunting and have said it doesn't hurt them. I try not to cock the rifle until I'm ready to shoot it even in a hunting situation but thats just me. But one would think that knowing these spring only have a short life span anyway you'd want it to last as long as possible.
