Any houghts on the newer Hawke Sport Optics Endurance 6-24x50 LR Dot?

While looking for a longer range scope I came across a deal on a Hawke Sport Optics Endurance 6-24x50: LR Dot, Illuminated, 30mm Tube, .25 MOA Clicks
If you have experience with this scope can you shed some light on its quality and applicability to longer range shooting from a bench (older eyes, 100 yards and up)? A list of cost-effective alternatives would be much appreciated as well.
Many thanks,
David/Yarp

I have a 6X24X50 Endurance with the optional large side wheel. Excellent clarity, even at higher magnification, has held up to +20000 shots on my Walther LGV .177. It's still on the LGV if that tells you anything! However, in hindsight, I would prefer a "cross", not a dot, for pellet-on-pellet precision at longer ranges. Now, I'm being picky, that's just my personal preferences. Can't tell you anything about the IR features, never used them.

I have no direct experience with the Endurance line, but I use a Sidewinder 4-16x50 (hunting gun so no need for more magnification). I have shot it out to 70 yards on 8x and 16x mag and the glass is very clear, no complaints as long as you are aware that the reticle stays the same size, so the aim point changes as the magnification changes (also known as second focal plane.). If this is not a problem for you, then it will do the job well...with the Hawke BRC program you can set up ranging charts for your particular reticle once you input your gun's data, so this is a non issue if you use a "dope sheet" past your zero anyways. The BRC is not perfect of course, but it will put you near where you need to be quickly
Also, be aware that if you do order a Hawke, they offer flip ups in clear and amber, just ask Hawke customer service for the size and they will set you up, they were very prompt and helpful in my dealings with them.
As for the IR feature, I have only used them a couple times but it is extremely useful in low light situations or targets with dark backgrounds. Useful for bench shooting, well, probably not.
IMHO, you can't go wrong with a Hawke. They have a great warranty, the visual and build quality is outstanding, and the ballistics software is a plus.

Thanks much for the reviews.
I can't help but like the sidewinders and would have gone that way if a deal had presented itself, but the Endurance is new territory for me.
This is to replace the CP try-on glass on a .30 caliber Hatsan......At $240 I think I'll have to bite.

I have a 4.5-14x42 Tactical sidewinder on my TX. This is a great scope. Put a 6-24x50 Eclipse on the HW100, liked this scope a lot. Had a problem with it,and sent it back to Hawke. They replaced it ( in 7 days) with the 6-24x50 Endurance, WOW. It is clearer then the Sidewinder, and I range better. Here it's setup with a coma.

My Theoben Crusader finally killed a Hawke 30 Eclipse 6-24x50mm after about 7 years of light use. Hawke promptly replaced the Eclipse with a new Endurance 6x24 50 mm mil dot w/ lighted red center dot reticle. Very nice. Very clear The Eclipse 30 is a good scope. Have another on my S-410. The Hawke Endurance is amazingly clear. Etched reticle. Continuously variable intensity red dot (vs. red/green dot w/ click setting on the older Eclipse.Sharp AO focus to a true 10 meters to infinity. Just remounted it tonight on UTG 30 mm medium rings, so haven't zeroed and shot with it yet, but it promises to be a major upgrade from the Eclipse.
