TKO LDC's

Hey Gent's, I just bought myself 2 TKO Brakes for my Hatsan PcP's, One in .25, the other in .22. What I'd like to know is Do these Brakes have any performence issues when attached?. As some of you may know "Hatsans" are not known for being backyard friendly, and w/ the Hatsans pumping out 113 decibels, will these Brakes make a difference in the report dept,.?, or effect accuracy, As I mostly hunt JackRabbits at distances exceeding 125yds or so. Any Hatsan owners out there w/ TKO Brakes, Do you feel it was worth the price,etc,. @ $98.00 a piece they're certainly not cheap, and I'm wondering if I made the right decision. Thank's, Andy.

Andy, I have a TKO on a Crosman 2300 custom. It does a good job at reducing the report on that. But it doesn't have the bark that the hatsan has either, so I am not sure how effective it would be on a Hatsan. I also didn't have any poi shift or accuracy problems.
I will tell you though, I received my LDC from Baxter on Monday for my BT-65 and WOW ! I am very pleased with it. No bark at all and stacks pellets on top of each other at 40yds. The only problem I have now is the "ping" from the air tube seems so loud .

Well I received my "LDC's" today from TKO, and they fit perfectly, I was also worried that they wouldn't get through Customs, but I checked around on the Canadian Forum site, and found lots of people that have imported them. Now, I want to see if I can one made for my Cometa Fusion, It's a powerhouse, w/ little report, but i certainly think it would look Cool on the gun Instead of the "Air Diffuser". Getting back to the Hatsans I sure hope they're back-yard friendly now, trying to find a place to shoot them around here was getting pretty old pretty fast, Anyway's, I hope they perform as good as they look. I'll post some pics later on today on how well they look mounted. Cheer's, Andy.

Well I received my "LDC's" today from TKO, and they fit perfectly, I was also worried that they wouldn't get through Customs, but I checked around on the Canadian Forum site, and found lots of people that have imported them.

The Canadian Airgun Forum eschews any discussion of LDC's as they are prohibited in Canada.  Posters on CAF do not, nor are they permitted, to discuss or condone anything airgun related that is against the law, including sound moderators such as "LDC's," modifications that are contrary to the law, and other illegal airgun-related activities.  Those familiar with the Canadian Airgun Forum know this.

The wording on the Instructions that came w/ my order said "TKO MuzzleBrakes", not LDC's, and if you look on the CAF forum you will see countless threads on "MuzzleBrakes", some even mentioning TKO by name, or the guy's I usually deal with like "Larry" from "Airgun Artisans", and when I placed my order w/ Mike Tiehen fron "TKO Design" He said he's never had any problems selling/shipping any of his MuzzleBrakes to Canada, So, who's right, and who's wrong?,When I received my order there was a little sticker on the package that said "Opened, and Inspected by Canada Customs(CBSA)", Anyway's, I'm extremely happy with my "BRAKES", and would recommend Mike & his services/products to anyone.Just my opinion, but judgeing from the build its almost all "Delrin", and Carbon Fiber tape, I seriously doubt that they could go on anything that produces more than 50ft/lbs w/out self-destructing, If I remember correctly even a .22 lr round pproduces in excess of 100 ft/lbs or so, So what else could it go on, You'd probably have better luck sticking a potato over your muzzle as opposed to one of these "BRAKEs". Regardless of the semantics  (whether you want to call it a muzzle brake or something else), regardless of whether your order from TKO was ostensibly opened by CBSA, regardless of countless threads on CAF regarding muzzle brakes (not sound moderators or suppressors), and regardless of the nature of its construction, the law is clear that nothing that diminishes the report of an air gun or firearm is permitted in Canada.  Your TKO "muzzle brake" is not legal in Canada.  Simply put, it is prohibited and if you are "caught" with it you could very well end up facing serious weapons-related criminal issues. 

Call it what you will, a TKO "muzzle brake" is a sound moderator, and it is illegal in Canada.  It is doubtful that all Canada Customs agents would recognize a sound moderator for an air gun, especially one made of lightweight material.  Canadian Airgun Forum posters who post about "muzzle brakes" are posting about faux brakes (as anyone familiar with the threads knows) and not devices that reduce the report of air guns.  Even a moderator or suppressor made out of a plastic or delrin is just as illegal as one made for a 5.56mm AR assault rifle.

I post this so that the OP is aware of the prohibited nature of a TKO "muzzle brake" under Canadian law.  (For interested readers, a PM was sent to the OP several days ago advising of the problem of gun sound moderators and the law in Canada.)

grauhanen, thank you for pointing out the Canadian law and the dangers of hiding behind semantics as an attempt to protect oneself.  Mr Sterne, a very knowledgeable Canadian Airgunner, also has stated the illegality of sound moderators specific to airgun use in Canada many times.
