2nd time out today

The strong desire to redeem myself caused me to take another quick trip to the dairy. I thought for sure the birds would be active but to my surprise the pickings were pretty slim. I didn’t mange to go 2 or 3 which isn’t bad for a 15 or 20 minute hunt. I scored on with the Discovery and the other was a nice 45 yard shot with the NPSS. I feel a little better about my field time now. But with warmer weather on the horizon I should get in some more practice.

Great 45yd shot Dave! I shot about 20 Starlings this week, a couple every day and 6 yesterday. I took pics of about 1/2 of them.. because a lot of them are up on the hill and there is still ice and snow up there and I 'm not going to get them
But I have not taken one at 45yds yet. 38yds was the longest shot on a Yellow beak for me. I would like to do 45yds so I will set that as my goal this year

Thanks Harry, it still makes no sense to me how I can miss a few starlings from 27 yards only to turn around and connect on one from 45 yards. Maybe I was just a little to over confident and got a little quick on the trigger, who knows. I'm bound and determined to spend more time afield to figure this out.

I have given up worrying about it. I know that I'm going to have some misses when the flock comes in. I am TRYING to discipline myself to keep breathing when I'm trying to pick and take my target. Too often I'm holding my breath chasing bobbing and weaving starlings all over the bait station in my scope.
By the time I have a shot, I'm out of breath!

When hunting zombie starlings, there are two approaches. The first approach is the "Double-Tap". The alternative is cutting their heads off and putting toothpicks through their hearts.
It's your choice.
