My New Umarex Octane .22 Reaxis gas piston

Received my new Umarex Octane .22 via FedEx today.
First thing I did after unboxing, was to take the rifle [only - no scope] out on the verandah and ran half a dozen pellets [H&N FTT 14.66gr Domed] through the barrel.
Holy smoke!!! I cocked it and it sounded like someone had poured a hand full of sand into the cylinder! Horrible sounds.
Anyone ever experience similar happenings?
I immediately sent a message to PA for instructions of what next I should do.
Phew!!!
That's no way to celebrate the arrival of a new rifle, huh

That doesn't sound like a very auspicious start to a relationship between you and your new rifle

Well, I solved my problem with the Umarex Octane .22 rifle; solving not only the grinding noise, but the butt stock which, when lowering the rear site to accommodate a 30m shot, forces me to mash my right cheekbone hard into the stock.
I returned it to Pyramyd Air on Wednesday [via FedEx] and once they receive it, I will be purchasing my third [3rd] Hatsan 125, this time in .25 caliber.
I will probably remove/swap the TH stock off one of my two [.22] 125s and place it on the [.25] Hatsan.
There even may be a possibility down the road, to convert one of the two Hatsan 125 [.22] by buying a .177 barrel for it.
Then I'll have all three calibers of probably the best Gas Piston Break Barrel rifle made. Now don't get your dander up fellas. That's my opinion and I'm gonna stick to it. You have your favorites; I certainly do as well.
Yes, my Beeman R-Series spring-pistons are the best in spring power, trigger [overall], and value, but the out of the box quality of my Hatsan's is quite impressive to me.
I reckon that erganomics, plays a very large part of the success of the Hatsan rifles, and added with accuracy [iron sites], and the aqccuracy when mated to a Leapers UTG 4-16 x 40/50mm AO Mil Dot scope, I have a winner.
I installed a barrel ring QD swivell on the barrels of them and drilled and screwed a QD swivel ring on the base of the stock about 2" from the butt pad. Now the weight when hiking over hill and dale doesn't bother me.
That's it for now; the end of a Umarex relationship. Maybe one day down the road...
Vernon.
