Air stripper barrel cleaning?

My X50 has the air stripper built in and its not removable. Is there anything special I have to do when cleaning the barrel because of that? And besides a brass rod and pushing the cleaning patches in 1 direction what solvent or such should I use to clean the barrel? Are brass brushes safe to get all the lead out?

Don't use a brass brush in an airgun barrel.  Airgun barrels don't need such harsh abrasion and may be damaged from such brushing.  Do not use solvents either.  Solvents are not good for seals, should they go where there are seals.  The only thing to clean out is excess graphite (some pellets have it). The best thing to use is a pull through, which can be purchased or made from fishing line or weed whacker line.


Use the pull through to pull a patch with something like Ballistol through from the breech to the muzzle.  Then repeat with dry patches until clean.

grauhanen: Will this have an effect on the air stripper? I dont know what it looks like in there as far as air ports and such. So I dont want to damage that. Seems like they should have made that part detachable.

To make using a pull through easier (I have a crown saver branded one), you will want to use a straw in the air stripper portion to guide it into the barrel. If not, it will be a headache to try to get it aligned properly and not caught in the baffles.
