New Disco

Got my Disco, .22 cal, a few weeks ago and have had limited trigger time but today did some work on it and thought I’d post a little info on it. I bought it via an auction as “new”, came well boxed but not in a Benjamin box. Did not appear to have been shot, but who knows. It was in good shape, wood not bad but could use lots of polishing and probably will be nice but lacking much figure. Stock trigger is plastic and not too high quality so I ordered a new brass trigger from Baker Air Arms. Only $22 and came with 2 adjustment screws and a new spring. Installing the trigger is not much of a job, but chased the spring around the room a few times, once it ended up in my coffee cup! I had previously shortened the hammer spring to gain shots per fill, believe I need to remove at least 1 more coil as I only get about 18 good shots per fill. In addition I may add a power adjuster so I can switch between hunting power and plinking power. Accuracy was a real disappointment at first, with a new barrel that needed to be broke in and the search for the “right” pellet. It definitely needs a heavy pellet, found that JSB Exact Jumbos worked well. With the 18.13 Jumbo Heavy I got one 0.264 inch CTC 5 shot group at 20 yards so it is capable of good accuracy if I just do my part. I put a Nicon 3-9 on it that was on my Ruger so another scope is needed.

I don’t know if it’s a squirrel assassin yet but it certainly is showing promise.

As far as being a squirrel assassin...I have had an old lady in my neighborhood actually "commission" me to take care of her problem because of what I was able to do with my squirrel population. I have taken them out to 50 yards, but most of my shots are inside 40 yards.

My Disco is actually happy with the cphp 14.3.You are right that finish is not very nice  I neede to increase the lop also and now it is very comfortable for me

I got my 22 Disco last June. From a 2200psi fill I get 20 or 21 shots until pressure drops to 1000psi shooting the CPHP 14.3gr pellets. With a TKO on mine and using my window sill as a bench rest, I'm shooting 1.25" groups at 47 yards on a clear summer day. I've got a Nikon Prostaff rimfire  3-9x40BDC scope on mine. Sometimes I knock Starlings out of the treetops from 60 yards away. ENJOY

Forgot to mention, I am shooting 5 shot groups at .25" from 30 yards off my deck railing.

With a good cleaning and a little smoothing, you can get it so be a sniper. Trigger was the biggest fix...the three screw mod was perfect for me.

the gen 1 marauder trigger drops right into the disco. it's more $$ but once you've shot it, you'll wonder why it took you so long to get it.
you'll also need to fabricate a trigger guard or get a challenger guard from crossman as the mrod trigger group does not have a guard.
but what a sweet trigger. soooo much better than anything you can do to the stock setup. 2 screw, 3 screw, polish, hone, whatever. the mrod trigger is better.

I totally agree, but the mrod trigger, when done right, will set you back $100+ as well as some elbow grease to modify the hammer.

My suggestion of the three screw mod costs less than $5 and maybe 20 minutes of time. If you threw in an aftermarket brass trigger, the whole thing stays under $30 and you have a pretty darn smooth squirrel gun.

I did the brass trigger with just the two screw mod and I'm pleased with the result.  May add third screw later but as of now I don't feel it's needed.

I did the same thing, but then I got curious. Great thing about the third screw is, if you don't like it, you can easily reverse what you did minus one little hole int he trigger guard. I say give it a shot and see how it goes. If you don't like it, pull the screw out =)
