Hi all : My 2 year old R 7 has started just prior to the full cocking- click ,show a slight friction feel that you can also hear but faintly Any thoughts ? Also do you need a spring compressor on the R 7. By the way it still shoot great.

If you can remove it from the stock, check under the cocking linkage to see if it is wearing on the compression tube. If so, there is a nylon or delrin insert which can be put into the hollow side of the linkage to prevent galling on the compression tube. If you need one, the inserts are available from Air Rifle Headquarters.

Just installed one on my r7. It's so much smoother cocking now. A common problem with them. Cheap fix too.
