What pellets are you guys using for 12fpe tune? After watching the 12fpe .177 or .22 hunting thread, I've decided to tune my .177 Syn Rod for 12fpe. Should I go with a slower heavier pellets or faster lighter pellet?

I have never tuned a 12fpe .177 but have had a12 fpe .22. And I believe the answer is always go with the most accurate pellet. With a 12fpe Prod I was hitting a 2"x2" spinner @ 75 yards. Not every time but enough to feel good about myself.

Try the H&N 8.34 FTT they are pretty accurate in all but my D460 which is shooting 19 fpe with 10 gr pellets

My S10 shoots AA fields 4.51 head size and H&N Baracuda Match 4.52 head size almost exactly the same. I ordered some AA fields in 4.52 to see if there is any difference. The AA field are shooting at 11 fpe. My S10 absolutely hated the JSB heavies.

Good decision to detune to 12 fpe, you can always tune the power back up if you choose, or get another gun i n larger caliber for more power down the road.
As to what pellet, what weight to tune with will depend to a small degree on what you plan on doing with your 12 fpe rig. Hunting, paper punching or both. In my experience, the heavier pellets, up to 10 grains, are better for hunting at 12 fpe because they keep their energy better & deposit it where it's needed, whereas lighter ammo, 6-7 grains, can be used just fine for target shooting & plinking . Or for a general all purpose pellet at that power you can use something in the 8-9 grain region.
