Sorry if I hijacked the original thread folks, just felt the issues that dealing with Umarex has brought up would be good for people to know about before considering a purchase...

So now for the rest of the story ... Diana 34 is on the way to them (they sent me a return document and shipping label).  It still remains to be seen as far as happy endings go, but I think it best to reserve that for another thread so the OP can come back and tell us how his plans worked out!

Could be, but isn't it just another symptom of a yet to be determined problem?

The RWS 34 is hard on scopes. The RWS scope that came on mine only lasted 5000 rounds.

I've got about 70 rounds through it, screws constantly working loose, front sight cracking in half, breach seal falling out, fillings in my teeth would have fell out next...  I was planning on a spring kit when the warranty ran out, but, well, story's all told (it's just so long most folks won't want to read it).

  I think that unless you purchases the rifle from I don't know where most reputable sellers will accept a return and refund the sale price of the rifle. I know that Airgun Depot and Pyramyd air do so with no questions asked for 30 days

I think what I'm really learning here is there must be a LOT more factory problems with Diana than get reported for the very reason you just braught up --- MOST purchases are returnable.

I'll bite my tongue on the rest and wait to see if Umarex will do what they said before I shipped it to them!

  I can well understand your frustration I only had about 2000 pellets through my D460 when the mainspring broke ( partially my fault 100 or so PBA pellets)
 I ordered a Vortek kit and didn't worry about the warranty for 2 reasons, first the rifle was fairly well constructed with good fit and finish and second was I felt that to lube and polish the insides along with the Vortek kit would make a nice rifle even better. The D34 that I traded was an excellent shooter but in truth it had been tuned before I purchased it so I don't know what a box stock one shoots like. One other thought please correct me if I am wrong but I seem to remember that you purchased from a brick and mortar store and the store clerk  broke the front sight and dry fired the rifle in the back of the store. If that is correct I would have insisted that the clerk bring me an unopened factory boxed rifle

Mostly spot on.  Brick and mortar yes.  New in box, I believe so and can explain why but think either unfired or maybe a few rounds only.

Discount store, had 1, marked down since early Jan, and another 10% when they broke the sight.

Got it cheap and w/all paperwork - Umarex agreed to send parts but when I discussed what else was going on gunsmith told me he wanted to look at (in...?) it and they would cover shipping both ways.  They sent me shipping label then claimed without disassembling it that it is overlubed.  If you look at the pictures (both threads, 3 messages total), well, I don't see any evidence of excessive lubrication and I wanted the readerships opinion of this and how I should deal with Umarex.

Before I bought it I checked the barrel, it was clean.  I didn't lube anything and it didn't smoke as if dieseling.
