Hatsan 95, what ammo are you using?

I was just curious. I'm using the 7.9g Crosman Premier pellets and like them but haven't tried any others and this is the only springer I have shot so my opinion is of limited worth. I definitely think that are accurate I can get .5" groups of 5 at 20 yards when I'm lucky (getting better the more I shoot it). I am only considering trying another pellet because I have seen people say they leave more lead deposits in the barrel than other pellets.
Thanks for any input.

Hey Billy G,
Each gun will like something a little different. My Hatsan's typically like CPUM 10.5 gr., CPHP 7.9 gr, JSB 10.34 gr., JSB 8.44 gr., H&N 8.64 gr., H&N 10.65, RWS Meist.... 8.2 gr. wadcutters. For close target practice, I like the wadcutters.

The one I owned I used it strictly for hunting and used the H&N Barracuda Hunters...or the H&N FTT's

I've shot a couple of groups at 10m with Beeman Hollowpoints in .177 that were about 0.17ctc - they are the most accurate I've tried thus far in my 95 and if I can remember correctly, I picked up a few tins of them for under $6/500 at AirgunDepot.com during their Black Friday sale. Pretty close behind them and even cheaper are Winchester Hollowpoints, which weigh 9.75gr. and cost something like $4.49/500 on Amazon typically, although with Amazon's sometimes giant price fluctuations, they've gone up to $12.87 as I type. I've shot a number of single hole groups with the Winchesters at 10m that are maybe only a hundredth of an inch or two larger than the Beeman HPs, still under 0.20 ctc, which is a pretty accurate pellet-rifle combination in my book. This weekend I plan to replace the trigger adjustment screw per the advice in another post in the forum to lower the pull some more (I got it down to maybe 4 pounds but I'd like it a bit lighter) and see if that doesn't help accuracy even more.
My Hatsan doesn't seem to like either wadcutters (I've tried Crosman Premier Wadcutters and RWS Hobby) or pointed pellets (I've tried Daisy and Beeman).
I bought about six different tins of pellets on Black Friday from AGD, plus got a Stoeger pellet sampler pack with six of their different pellets including an alloy one I bet goes supersonic, that I'd like to try this weekend. I also need to run about 7 500-pellet boxes of old English Marksman round nose pellets I bought about 30 years ago through some vinegar and clean the oxidation off them.

Badgerfan I'm going to have to try some of those Beeman and Winchesters.
SpiralGroove have you had to deal with lead building up in the barrel when using the CPHP 7.9g? Hatsan recommends cleaning the barrel regularly anyway but I have seen a lot of people say it's not good to do unless you have to. I guess airguns are no different than any othere subject on the Internet. .... lots of conflicting opinions.

Both of my Hatsans really like Crosman pointed hunting pellets. Both the .177 and the .22 each like those pellets.
You will get a lot less buildup if you wash the pellets before using them, if you are not already.

I use the cheapest ammo I can find outside of daisy, nothing in my collection likes daisy ammo.
my 95 is good on target to about 30 yards with nothing more than a reflex sight. it is my close range, smack em off the roof gun. gets them every time

I've shot:
- 10.3 grain Cometa ultra shock heavy's. The gun really likes these pellets. They make a really satisfying sound when you vaporize an apple with one
- 15.74 grain H&N rabbit magnum II's. Neat little 5 meter groups at 30 meters. Very effective at shooting stuff behind you.
- 7 grain RWS diabolo basic's. I get the feeling that they're a little too fast in this rifle.
- 7.56 grain Gamo pro hunter and pro magnum pellets.
Surprisingly, the super cheap pro magnum's get me the best results with my 95 vortex .177, even though some are deformed or have half a millimetre of excess lead on the skirts.
Don't have a chrony, so I can't tell you anything about velocity.
