Wild Irish Pellet Seater Works Fantastic For Me

Recently I was sent a Wild Irish Pellet Seater to review and try out. Today it was nice and sunny out so I decided to take a couple springers out and try it out.

First I want to mention that in just about every pellet order I have ever made there are some pellets with bent skirts. Of course they do not fly well when shot. So those I toss out. With the cost of pellets going up throwing lead away goes against my grain.. I found couple of bad pellets in my JSB Exact tin so I pushed them into barrel and seated them with the Wild Irish Pellet Seater. That sure worked out great. Skirt was perfect once it was seated in breech of barrel of the Hatsan Mod 95.

I also wanted to see how it worked in one of my favorite springers "HW-97" where there is not allot of room to load pellets. With the Wild Irish Pellet seater I was able to seat distorted pellets with ease and also the skirts were straight after seating pellet. I might suggest a longer With the Wild Irish Pellet seater for these types of breech's. With big meathooks it would be a breeze to install pellets with the longer version.

This is one of the best pellet seaters I have ever tested. Great idea and design.

I know from experience a pellet seater can help improve groups.  I just didn't know anybody made one for sale.  I only hear about a pellet pen.

Does the Wild Irish seater work with fixed barrels or just break barrels?  I made one that works with either.

More info on exactly what the seater is or close up pictures would be good.

As near as I can tell there is no depth limiter on the pellet seater.  The point would seat a pellet below the surface but it appears it would be inconsistent.  Seating to the same depth each time seems to have an effect on consistency of groups.

As roadworthy said, there appears to be no depth limiter on the pellet seater.  In that case I will go with a brass machine screw and some nylocks.  I may post the result after I get it put together.

Mort, it looks like a cut-off and bent toothbrush with a hole drilled and a piece of 12 ga wire stuck in the end. Cut to seat at the proper depth. Pretty neat, Road!!!

Ken - you're REALLY close with your guess.  It's number ten awg copper wire.  I cut it and chucked it in the drill press.  I applied a file to one end at varying angles to round it.  Then I turned the stub of wire over and cleaned burs off the other end so I could seat it into the toothbrush.  If you double click the image it will expand.

I sawed the bristles off the toothbrush and made it flat with sandpaper on a flat for an easy to drill flat surface.  I drilled the hole just smaller than the copper wire.  I left about 3/32"  protruding.  That gets the skirt of most pellets just below the surface.  If the pellet skirt is too long the flat surface will ensure the skirt is pressed flat into the breech, anyhow.

I submerged the toothbrush in boiling water for about thirty seconds to make it flexible.

I think it's a great invention.  It has helped my groups significantly.

LOL, thanks for pointing that out. It was late and I guess I was half awake. But I will tell you guys that that pellet seater is one of the best I have had. It is basically a bicycle spoke. Was a great idea I thought. It has a nice rounded end on it that fits perfect in the seat of a pellet.
