Today I put about 200 rounds

through my new Crosman Phantom. I like the weight of the gun, and I really like the feel of the stock. Very comfortable to me. The cocking is very smooth, and the trigger is on the same level as most of my airguns, I get the feel for it and its not a problem.[I will be putting a GRTIII in a couple of them though.]

WOW, I couldn't hit anything!!! I started off too small,[shotgun shells] and after getting completely frustrated and hoping the neighbors werent watching, I moved up to dog food cans and chew cans!
I know the gun isn't broken in yet but I have never had a gun miss so much. I COULDNT HIT THE CANS CONSISTANTLY AT 10 YARDS!
So I just continued to shoot and after about 100 rounds or so, it got better and better. I didn't try any good pellets because I was just shooting it to break it in.When it started shooting good [finally], it seems to like the cheap Crosman Destroyers. Won't shoot a Daisy pellet for nothin', and is not too fond of the other brands I used.After a couple hundred more rounds I'll try some good pellets.

All in all I like this gun. Can't wait to get it all broken in.

I'm thinking about selling my G1 Extreme (GRT III equipped) and spare springs and seals ad pivot bushings. I just don't shoot springers as much anymore. I'm torn, because I like it so much. I may make a carbine out of it.

My brother has a Phantom also. It hasn't been fired 20 times yet. I couldn't help but notice the gun is loud as *(&^. After the 200 rounds through yours did it quiet down any ?

I'm not the best person to ask because I tend to keep things, but if you like it and sell it, you may regret it. If you have room for it, keep it a while. Some day you may pull it out and just be happy you still have it.[ again, I'm not the person to listen to, you should see my garage! ]

Actually, the other day it got quiet after a few rounds, but today it was loud again for a while. I tend to block out distractions so I really cant tell you if it got quieter or I just didn't notice anymore. That make sense? I can say there is no "twang" noise.

How many different pellets did you try.  Some guns will just not shoot a certain pellet but love others.  Give it time.

I tried:
Daisy - pointed and wadcutter-Very not good.
Beeman- pointed- coated- just as bad.
Crosman- pointed not too impressive.
                Destroyer ex -pretty good.
                Destroyer- shot the best by far.
Since I was just shooting it to get some pellets through it for break in, I didn't want to waste any good ones. They are more pricey, [and I'm cheap]and I would have to mail order them in.

After a while it will be JSB's and some Beemans, etc. Does that make sense or am I way off?

I use the Crosman HP from Wallyworld. my Phantom ( actually 2 ) is about my best shooting gun. 10 shots 30 yards with either a peep or red dot, I forget which, group could be covered with a quarter.
