Next Dallas Field Target Club match is Saturday, Dec. 13...

Now that the cold snap is out of the way, we can mark our calendars for a (pleasant) Dallas Field Target Club match prior to the holidays... Saturday, December 13, 10:00am.   

NOTE: we will have our first Field Target Pistol Match following the Rifle Match.

Range will be open to attendees around 8:00am.  Please arrive at the range no later than 9:15am to register and practice. This month's 44-shot rifle match will start promptly at 10:00am, finishing in time for the Pistol Match, to start approximately 30-minutes after the rifle match results are announced.  If you intend to stay for Pistol, it's suggested you bring a snack or small sack lunch.

If you have not tried Pistol, and wish to, please let me know in advance so we can plan to pair you with an experienced shooter to share a pistol.  What could be easier?

Please RSVP to me if you know you will attend (via email or post here).  The non-member match fee is $20 in cash, please, $25 if shooting rifle and pistol.  ($10 of this goes to Elm Fork.)  Existing members shoot for $15, $20 for both matches. 

Consider this an early Holiday present to yourself...  All those seeking to become 2015 club members -- or to renew your current memberships for 2015 -- should plan to do so for $25 at this match.   Shoot at membership rates throughout 2015.

John, at our monthly club matches, we normally will shoot a 50-shot match in the Summer months.  However, during the shorter days in Winter, we will need to shorten the rifle match to make time available for a pistol match to follow before we lose daylight.

The first sanctioned GP for this region will be the Cajuns in April, so there's plenty of time to prep for that.

Thanks I just wondered as I've just never seen a shoot under 60 shot's. At the TVA we used to have a five lane (as challenging as Brad Troyer could make it) "short course) we shoot before the regular match. It did take a little extra time.
But sure some folks drive several hundred miles to get to a shoot and perhaps even have to work afterwards.
 Any shooting is good shooting.
We're still going to need pictures though.

John, the only 60-shot matches I've ever attended were Grand Prix weekends (RoT, Cajun's, your GoBs, etc), and US Nationals.  Monthly Yegua (RIP) matches were seldom more than 44-shots, even when prepping local shooters for the Rep Of TX GP.   

Our first three Dallas matches were 50-shots and will likely return in the Spring and Summer months, when we have more daylight to play with.  In December, a 44-shot match saves a half hour of daylight, used to squeeze in our first pistol match in the afternoon before a 5pm sundown.

We take our pistol more seriously than in other parts of the country, and give rifle and pistol equal billing.  We shoot pistol on the regular rifle lanes in the woods, not from an impromptu course shot from under a pavilion into an open field.

  At the next Republic of Texas State match and GP, you can shoot two 60-shot matches.

Saturday match is a go...

Weather for Saturday will be cloudy in the low 70s.  Can't beat that for December in Dallas.

Sight-in after 8:15 am or so.  Rifle match starts at 10:00, with pistol match to follow.
