Shot a few targets at my NC practice lane in November color!

I'm in the process of selling the West Virginia property so I haven't even shot my R9 since the last THAGC match at the NC airgun show. Well...today was a beautiful day for shooting so I took the R9 and 3-12x50 Aeon scope to my back yard practice lane along with some 4.52mm 8.4 grain JSB exact pellets and did some "barrel tweaking" and plinking. Here is a pic of my lane in fall colors from the 30 yard line.......

I had "re-purposed" the frame from an abandoned campaign poster to use as a support for my paper targets like this........

In the past I had simply tacked targets to the log back stop, but now I have my paper targets supported at the same distance as the metal targets instead of a foot or so behind.
The reason for "tweading my R9 barrel" was that I optically zero my scopes and then bend the barrel till the poi is within 1/2" of the aim point at 30 yards, then the final adjustments are done via turrets. Here is the target showing the poi shifting by barrel bending........

All shots were made HFT style (sitting on a bucket resting the gun on cross sticks) and I was really thinking I was "all that and more too" when I shot the 5 shot one hole group on bull #1 at 30 yards. After shooting this group I proceeded to "click the turrets" to the left and then shot group #2. LOL....the 1st three shots went into one hole but I had over-adjusted the turret to the left, however the next two shots made me wonder! I proceeded to shoot bull #3 and the wild hits on each side of the bull really showed me that I indeed "wasn't all that"! I then almost finished zeroing the gun by shooting at bulls that were used for barrel bending and though the hits were to the right side of the 3/8" diameter circle of bull #30 I decided to do some 50 yard shooting since the fall sunlight was leaving. Here is the 5 shot group I shot at 50 yards........

Four of the pellets landed within 3/8" ctc with the second shot opening the group to 5/8" ctc. While I still have to do a bit of "poi adjusting" I'm really pleased with the changes I made to my .177 R9 after the match at the NC airgun show!
A couple changes made.......
1. Gun was de-tuned a bit to shoot the 8.4 grain JSBs at 830fps instead of the previous 860fps.
2. I stripped and relubed with the Dupont Krytox 224 instead of the Ultimox 226which I had been using for a while. The third digit of the number denotes the base grade of the grease and "224" is two grades THINNER than "226".
3. I made the trigger into ALMOST a single stage trigger by removing most of the 1st stage travel. Took some getting used to but I'm thinking that I like the change.
Anywhoo......supposed to be another nice day tomorrow followed by a cold spell so I might get another chance to play around outside tomorrow!

Cool stuff Ed. Looks like some beautiful real estate. Oh yeah and some good thoughts on gun tinkering.
