How many pumps to go from 1000 to 2000 on a Discovery?

No not how many licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop, but how many pumps should it take to go from low to full (or 1000 to 2000 psi) on a Discovery. I just got one and the seller sent a needs work pump with it and didn't mention it before the deal. But I did get it to work. But now I'm trying to see if it's full efficiency as it is.

Right now it takes between 70-100 pumps to go from 1000 to 2000 psi. Is that about right?

Yea the disco should take about 120 strokes to fill from empty so 50-60 sounds about right

Is it ok to leave it sit between shooting at 1000 psi? Say for 2-3 weeks resting at 1000? That way I won't have to pump from scratch every time I shoot.

Also, there a way to turn down the velocity a little bit and gain more shots per fill? I don't know how fast this thing spits them out but I'd be happy with 700 fps with 7.4 grain .177 crosmans.

You can leave it at 1000psi and it will be just fine. I'm not sure about the velocity thing. I know people sell power adjusters for them but idk if that yields more shots per fill. I would assume so though

Yes you can use an RVA to adjust the velocity.... or change the hammer spring down to the one from a 2289/1377.... When you detune, however, you will have to fill to a lower pressure.... but you will be able to shoot down to a lower pressure as well....

I don't know what the numbers are for a .177.... but in my .22 cal I was able to get about 35-40 shots within a 5% velocity range from 1800 psi down to 1000.... and over 50 within a 10% range from 2000 psi down to about 850.... The average velocity was about 725 fps with 15.9 gr. pellets.... Although I didn't know about it at the time, what I have learned since is that if you restrict the transfer port you can flatten the curve and get a narrow range of variation over a wider range of pressures.... I would suggest you pick up a "Canadian" transfer port from a 1377 (500 fps version) which is only about 0.109" instead of 0.140".... Between that, an RVA, and possibly a lighter hammer spring (again, 1377 or 2289) you should be able to get lots of shots in the power range you desire....

i have a .177 disco, and i believe somewhere i saw a 20 shot string that was around 850 fps... dont quote me on that though
