The LGV is a superb shooting air rifle. The accuracy from this rifle and the smooth shooting behavior is what makes this rifle. Either caliber would simply be up to the individual. I have the 22.cal which shoots just about any pellet mid size around 12lbs. Personally I cannot imagine why you would need more than this for all around shooting. If not than you shoot look at the magnum rifles.
Have any of you guys shot the 22 at 50 yds?

It's capable at that distance, you're just lobbing it out there as opposed to the flatter shooting .177. There is several videos on youtube with the English shooting at that distance (believe the fellows name was Si Pittaway, Vermin Hunters TV) Then again he was shooting thumbtacks with it @35yrds.

I searched online quite a bit before I got my LGV. If you check around you'll find there are 16 ft/lb, 12 ft/lb, and 6 ft/lb versions of the LGV (the lowest powered version is for Germany, I think). Again, from what I learned the LGV was likely designed for around 12ft/lb and the only one available at that power level is the .22. I think the gun was set up more for a particular power level than calibre. There dont seem to be many LGV owners on this forum, but there are plenty others on other forums, including some of the British forums and even the Weihrach forum. I know you'd get more responses over on the Yellow.
